Islanders visit the Nest tonight. Will be nice to see the new D-man tonight. maybe it gives us a spark. We have quite a bit of ground to make up in the standings. Hoping Dumont brings in a new Goalie next. Going with Eagles 4-1. Sullivan with the start?

Might get a decent crowd tonight at the nest ... all depends on how people are feeling I guess. With the slump these guys are in I hate to be negative but I don't see a win tonight for the Eagles. They'll nip and claw but I just don't see it. Either we'll give up some goal in the first 5 minutes or blow a lead in the third period. Seems to be the trend. I really hope the Eagles prove me wrong, on all that I've stated above, but I see a 5-3 victory for the Islanders tonight. Will be excited to see how Gosselin plays though. Maybe just maybe we called up Muise for a game?

Feeling the same way you are Flannigan, the trend has been either dig a massive hole early or implode in the third. I, as well, don't see why they won't give Muise a shot. Our goaltending can't get much worse than it has been thus far. He's young but you never know how he will play in this league if you don't give him a shot, anyone remember a goalie by the name of Marc Andre Fleury. We couldn't take him out of the net because he played so well. History could possibly repeat itself.

I also must agree, we have blown many games where we dominated throughout the first 2 periods.
Also excited to see Gosselin. I would not complain if they played a full 60mins and came up short. Just seems we either start flat or get blown out in the 3rd period.

Looks like there's actually gonna be a decent crowd here tonight! My last game before I head back to Saskatchewan for 21 days so I'm hoping for a good tilt tonight

That's all she wrote! 2-1 Screaming Eagles. We worked all night. Lines stayed consistent for the most part tonight which was nice to see. Sullivan made 29 saves tonight, he's not a starting goaltender in this league however he stepped up this evening and battled all night and picked up a massive win. Great way to start the year.
Anyone else notice every time Pelts goes to the backhand he loses the puck? Happened 3-4 times minimum tonight. Smith, Boucher are nice on our 3rd/4th line. I think Boucher has good potential as a grinder on our 3rd line. The only noticeable player that was bad tonight was Brunelle in my opinion.

Not to pick on the kid ... but is Pelletier healthy? He did not look good in Saint John on New Years Eve.
He may need a change of scenery.

Pelletier hasn't been the same player since Dumont called him out a while back in the Post all the while defending Brassard. Bell had yet another terrible game, either teach that kid how to play defence or move him to forward. Hinds, Smith, Farrell and Sullivan all had pretty strong games. Good to see the team play a full 60 minutes and come out with a win ( barely ).

Cudos to the team tonight, excellent game, good way to start the new year. Team played well from the goaltender out, good forecheck, good puck control on the PK.Like to see more games like that.I know a lot of people, myself included, have been very critical of Dumonts coaching methods. I must compliment him on a great job tonight, he played 4 lines, rolled four lines, used his 3rd or checking line against their top line, good to see. Actually looked like he had a game plan and stuck to it. Lets hope this game gives the guys some confidence.

Interesting. I don't think it's good for coaches to call out players in the press. Constructive criticism needs to be done quietly in person.
Bell was awesome on the power play in Saint John on the 31st. But, while it's just one game, it seemed that Bell and the other defencemen were having trouble with the Sea Dogs faster forwards, especially getting beat wide on the rush. Having said that, Bell seems to have a bright future.
