Pelletier hasn't been the same player since Dumont called him out a while back in the Post all the while defending Brassard. Bell had yet another terrible game, either teach that kid how to play defence or move him to forward. Hinds, Smith, Farrell and Sullivan all had pretty strong games. Good to see the team play a full 60 minutes and come out with a win ( barely ). I thought Bell played well. He's a 17 year old puck moving defenseman. If you expect a 17 year old offensive defenseman to play a sound defensive game and face the other teams top lines every night, your gonna be disappointed. He is here for a reason, to move the puck up the ice and help out our power play, and thats what he does.

I agree with you guys. Pelletier is not himself. It looks like he's playing injured or something. Didn't he hurt his hand? He could be dealing with a nagging injury.

We got the win but that 3rd period was a disaster, or more like, a typical showing of how Dumont has the team holding leads (well mostly blowing leads).
It was an absolute shooting gallery on Sullivan for the final 13 or so minutes.
Our D would not skate the puck out of the zone, they would just constantly make weak passes that would be intercepted before crossing center ice and Charlottetown would be right back in our zone.
Maybe I'm just being harsh but it's hard to be positive about that win, because I think we lose that game 90% of the time if we play like we did once we got the lead.

Its gonna be hard to get into the playoffs or even get past round one when you collapse in the third every game. I don't think we realized how much our veteran d-men (Woody, Beaudry, Hache) mean't to us last year. Having a guy like Hache that is a calming presence would really help our young guys scrambling around in the last 10 minutes in tight games. However we got two points and at this point thats really all we need right now

I'm not disagreeing the kid has loads of skill he just makes extremely poor decisions and a lot of the time it costs us. Defensemen should be thinking defence first. Period. If he wants to try to skate the puck up ice every time he touches it then move him to the wing, Dumont did have him on the wing for at least one game at the nest a while back and he looked great. Defencemans job is to prevent the other team from scoring, point are secondary, or at least they should be.

Defencemans job is to prevent the other team from scoring, point are secondary, or at least they should be. Some of the best defensemen in the NHL think offensive first, Karlsson and Subban as examples and they're not totally sound defensively. Offensive defensemen are necessary in hockey. Not only do they help your power play, but they are there to move the puck up the ice and get it to the forwards, as Bell does like I said. You're saying Bell's poor defensive decisions hurts our defense, thats no different than saying Deschamps' or Nosella's poor offensive decisions hurt our offense. Diversity in playing styles through a team are necessary IMO. Bell is not made to be a forward. If you seen him playing in the U-17's as a forward he looked lost. Even when he played wing this year he didn't look totally lost but was not great by any means. By what i've seen, Bell playing forward has a 3rd line ceiling and Bell playing defense has the potential to a to be a top 2 d-man and be one of the most dynamic d-men in the league. If would rather have a soft 3rd liner than I don't know what to tell you.

I think we should all take a moment to appreciate Jacob Smith. He works his ass off out there and looks like he just has fun playing hockey. He's not the most gifted player, but has some nice hands and somehow has decent speed. For a bottom 6er he gets the job done. I really wish he was 18 or 17 because i'm not so sure I would use a 20 year old spot on him but i'd love to have him back.

Interesting. I don't think it's good for coaches to call out players in the press. Constructive criticism needs to be done quietly in person. Bell was awesome on the power play in Saint John on the 31st. But, while it's just one game, it seemed that Bell and the other defencemen were having trouble with the Sea Dogs faster forwards, especially getting beat wide on the rush. Having said that, Bell seems to have a bright future. Alexandre Gosselin had a great game, played his man and not the puck. We need one more D like him and it will make a big difference in our wins, Bel, Well we need to do something with him he seems like he is not interested in playing hockey @ least not tonight. I think he needs to sit out a few games so he can watch Gosselin play and get some desire to play, he seemed to be in slow motion tonight. Not sure, he may be another Darcy? Sullivan is the number one goalie for this team and with more experience will be a great goalie i think he proved that tonight. He could use another good DF man. I believe we should look at trading Bell and MacIntyre and trow in Brassard to get another good older Def-man. Time to lead and win games!!

Fully agree about Bell, he is very talented but has a lot to learn. He is not nearly physical enough.watched one play near the net where Sullivan was down on his knees covering the puck and one of the Islanders players took 4 or 5 whacks at Sullivans hand trying to knock the puck loose and bell stood right beside him and did nothing, just watched him hack away.Poor defensively at times.

Hopefully, all our D and our coaches can learn from watching Gosselin play the body?
Whether Dumont likes it or not or will admit it or not, Sullivan has probably become our number 1 goalie which makes Brassard a 20 year old backup which makes no sense. Sullivan has more wins in 6 fewer games, a better GAA and a better Save %age.
At this stage is there still a deal out there for a young goalie with potential that would open up a 20 year old position. I'd love to see another 20 year old D that plays defense first so our young D could watch and learn from the stands if need be, once in a while. I'd also prepare some videos of some former non superstar but very valuable Eagles like David Victor, Charles Fontaine, Beau Prokopetz and Jan Piskacek who were all ready and willing to play the man.

Can't help but agree about Pelltier , he looks horrible at times out there . Trouble with his wrist , I understand but he often looks disinterested out there and struggling to see the ice . It also unfortunatly negatively affects his linemates as Farrell didn't seem to be himself out there last night . Hinds looked good out there last night but I wouldn't mind seeing him shoot a little more , he had some obvious shooting lanes but was reluctant to let er rip . The old saying about "sometimes you gotta be lucky to be good" would apply to Sullivan last night as a lot of pucks went through traffic and fortunatly hit him . I thought Bell looked OK last night as did the newcomer Goselin but at times the Defence collectively did look like it was running around at time .....take the 2 points and look forward to Sunday .

Way too much risk with very little reward. Like I said, someone needs to teach him how to play defence baca use he has no clue.
