So we're gonna go with an 18yr old, who will have probably 20-25 career starts, and a 16yr old rookie for a tandem next year? Asking for trouble going that route IMO. We were willing to go with Terenzio/Fucale, Ressop/High drafted 16 year old isn't very far-fetched. Ya and there is always lots of invites, previous draft picks and protected goalies before I would panic about keeping a 20yr old goalie. RN certainly are not worrying about it right now.

Wouldn't shock me if he were traded, if Cam plans on drafting a goalie it makes perfect sense. Pretty sure Halifax wants trouble next season.

There's no way he's traded already just makes no sense. Way wait till next year? Why wouldn't they have just done before the dead line. I think he is actually in the plans for next year. But really we might have to see how this draft plays out. I do think it is crazy for people to suggest we are going after a 16yo goalie this year when we don't even know the draft order yet.
This draft is going to be an interesting one for the Moose. There's a lot of moving pieces we already know of. There for it can play out in many ways. We know we will be getting a top defence men in Donaghey. We should have a top 10 pick at the very worst. As it stands right now we have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. The things that are unknown is Ehlers and where he will be next season. Do we keep him? Trade him? Draft another Euro?
I do think they will want to make the playoffs next year regardless of the potential of the draft. Why else would Cam make Donaghey a part of the trade. Quebec has some interesting and good 16 and 17yos that fit into the "retool". I know some of you are going to say well he's trade bait. I just don't buy that. It makes very little sense to trade for a guy to trade him again. I think the game plan for next year is hope for Ehlers back and maybe see what they can do next year and then reevaluate at the dead line.

No guarantee Donaghey even plays a game here. He could get flipped at the draft right away. Halifax took him because he was the best asset Quebec had available. They (Que) don't really have any hot shot 97's or 98's. When you make a trade, you take the best possible return. It doesn't mean Halifax has any interest in Donaghey for next season.

Donaghey will play with the moose next year. You think and say they should flip or trade everyone all the time.

I was thinking the same. He could potentially be shopped at the draft to contending teams, and that trade value is to be part of the Fucale/Murphy deal. We aren't going anywhere next year, so is there even a point in having him play with us for 4 months? Unless we need to build up his value where he is missing so much time now. Hopefully he comes back in playoffs and has a strong showing for Quebec.

I'm guessing Halifax would have been willing to deal for O'Leary last summer, but probably not anymore. If/when CB releases him and he goes back in the draft, Halifax will have their shot at him then. Why burn an asset on him now?

You already would have Gosselin, Leblanc, MacIntyre, Deschamps, Leveille, Beaudin and Lalonde coming back for next year. I'd think your assets would be better spent on forwards, and possibly goaltending, depending on how Belanger performs for you guys in nets the rest of this year.

Definitely a chance we flip Donaghey, wouldn't surprise me at all. Only thing I would say to that, is trade value tends to be higher at xmas, as opposed to the draft. Not a massive difference, but usually prices are higher at the trade deadline. But if Cam got a good offer on the draft floor, he should do it.

You and I have very different definitions of "hot shot". His numbers in NL midget aren't exactly off the charts, and that's typcially a stat inflated midget league. And I hate to break it to you, but your "Donaghey will play for the Moose next year" statement is no different that my "Not even sure if Donaghey is in Halifax's plans next year" statement. It's all opinion. At least try adding logic to yours to back it up, or links or some sort of evidence (like Scott Laughton being on Philly's roster in April after his junior season, as an example).

Could be a wait-and-see first half next season. Donaghey could end up playing for us depending on how our D looks the rest of the season, and how the next Draft goes. Not to mention what people are offering at the draft.

Sutton played the NCAA card 2. Sutton is injured which I said. 3. I still have yet to see this game sheet of Scott Laughton playing in April. The link you posted didn't show his name at all. You want logic to why Donaghey will be a moose next year. Simply Cam has gone on record as saying they want to be competitive every year. Is this team better with Donaghey or with out him. Also Cam has stated that the 2016 draft is the one of interest to him. It's also been said that 2016 draft is better then 2015. So what makes more sense trade him once you get him or keep him for a few months then flip him for picks in 2016. Also what has Cam done in his history of being GM would indicate he trades for players to flip them. If it were Marcel by all mean I would agree with you there.

If the 2016 draft is more important to him - why would he want to hold on to a top defenseman for 4 months and maybe get more wins in the standings? He can trade him for 2016 picks at the draft - or trade for picks/players than can be used to acquire 2016 picks. Bottom line is we don't know what will happen, so you can't tell people that this is what will happen for sure.

I don't know what you guys are talking about exactly regarding Laughton but he was called up by the Flyers after Oshawa was eliminated, if that's what you mean? Try this link: flyers.nhl.com/club/blogpost.htm?id=28780and if that doesn't apply to what you were discussing, just disregard lol.
