At least they got one win, but a pretty ugly weekend overall. They certainly did nothing to dispel the notion that they just happen to be sitting in first place of a weak division.
I don't have any grand illusion of the Cats being as good as the top teams, but I think the way the games played out has to be considered a disappointment. Outshot 122-68, outscored 17-9 and top players really not performing.
On a positive note, good to see the third and fourth lines chipping in today.

Yikes.... I thought this game was gonna be a lot tighter than that. Guess beating up the weaker teams in our own Maritime Division isn't gonna amount to much with 17 goals against us combined with huge shots on the net as well for this road trip. Just saying. If the road trip was a measuring stick, then the measurements are not good... Outscored 17-9 Outshot 122-68 Top 2 scorers went a combined -9 in the 3 games.

Rioux was given the start in front of his hometown crowd - bunch of family in attendance according to the announcer on 105.1. Thanks, didn't realize he was from Rimouski. Kinda goes to show you that maybe Rumble agrees with Steve's sentiment that first place in the Q isn't all that important. So Dubeau gets pulled in front of his family and Rioux gets pulled in front of his family, shitty feeling I'm sure. Sent from my SGH-I337M using proboards

i think its time to split up Garland and Barbs! they just dont play defence...garland didnt pick up his man twice yesterday coming down the middle which cost goals...always looking for the breakaway...appears we are not taking enough shots from the point like we were before...traffic is there but the shots are coming...imo

I never did consider Garland a defensive asset to the team, good down the opposite end, no doubt. Shifty and good hands, you bet. As somebody else posted, he looks for that breakaway shot/pass. He gets away with things in our weaker division but up against top teams – they are a lookin.

I agree that garland and Barbashev should be seperated , maybe garland , Burke and Johnson(when he comes back ) would work out and Barbashev , smith and Zilbert or Askew and third line Zilbert or Askew , Beaton and Murphy, and rotate guys through 4th line. Moncton has a good team with great chemistry but not a defensive shut down team ! If moncton hopes to make some noise in the playoffs they need Dubeau to be on his game and the team to be heathy. It looks like BLB has moncton's number hopefully they will not meet up until the later rounds ! Playoff Success = Hot Goalie and Heathy Team . I like that Rumble has put everyone in different situations early in the season , it will only make them stronger come playoff time !

I don't think BBA has Moncton's number, they are just a better team. They shut down the top line and take advantage of their scoring chances.

I don't see the point of separating them, they rack up points together. Maybe add a defensively strong player with them. Barbashev is usually pretty good defensively, but he might be running out of steam with all the hockey and travel he's had in the last month. I'm still baffled that they didn't give him a week off, could be costly by year ends as he is more likely to get hurt or be worn out by year end.

To me, Barbashev hasn't been himself since his return ... just sort of floating around giving a half effort. I think they would have given him a week off if we weren't in such a tough stretch of the schedule. He isn't the first guy to come back from this tournament giving a poor effort. Emotions get very high and then come crashing down at the end of the tourney. ... especially if you lose in the gold medal game. He'll need some time to ramp back up. We are a better team than we showed over this weekend ... but not better than those 3 teams .. not far off either. We really miss Johnson ... his work ethic is contagious.

An easier playoff matchup "tree" will help them go further than usual, but won't win you a title... 1-Rim/16-CB 2-Mon/15-Chi 3-BBA/14-Dru 4-BC/13-VD 5-Que/12-RN 6-SJ/11-Vic 7-Sha/10-Hal 8-She/9--Char 1-Rim/8-She 2-Mon/7-Sha 3-BBA/6-SJ 4-BC/5-Que 1-Rim/4-BC 2-Mon/3-BBA 1-Rim/2-Mon Obviously there will be upsets and a few teams will move up and others will move down...I think things get tough for the Cats starting round 2 if CB and Chi can move up and Dru and Hal drop. A 1st round upset would not be a huge upset though...

I think they would have given him a week off if we weren't in such a tough stretch of the schedule. He may not have been given a full week(7 days) but he's still been given some time off to heat up before the playoffs. Any allegation otherwise is simply false. Anyways, when you get dominated all weekend, it's never just about 1,2 or even 3 players. It's a team thing.

A week off??? All he has to do is practice and play hockey..he's not going to school or working or doing anything else... an hour flight to Montreal or Toronto is not what would call a lot of traveling... give me a break!

Most of the guys on the team had a full week off at Christmas to get away both mentally and physically from hockey. That's important with such a long schedule(Aug-April/May) in the QMJHL, he hasn't had that.
