I think tonight’s game will hinge on how Dubeau performs. Yes, even with the latest wins he has let dribblers get by him and goes down quite a lot. A couple of RIM quick goals in the initial part of the first period will put Cats back on their heels and may not be recoverable. Certainly will be a challenge this evening for sure.

One thing that will help compared to the last game vs Rimouski is controlling the matchups. Getting the Sweeney duo against the top line and keeping Barbashev-Garland away from Morin and Gauthier.

You're saying this based on Barbashev and (especially) Garland not taking two minute plus shifts, I'm assuming. Rimouski might get two changes in before Garland gets off the ice once.

Against a team like this a 90 second shift won't turn into 2 minutes because the puck will be in the net and Rumble will change the line after the goal... Agreed, though this is where poor defense and long shifts by that line will really hurt. Not so much against Maritime teams.

Our top two lines the other night were ... Line 1 ... Garland-Brabashev-Askew ... then Line 2 was ... Garland-Barbashev-Jacob. Askew comes off after about 45 seconds and Jacob jumped on ... and Jacob would stay out for his full shift before the three would head off. That happened several times.

Forwards vs #Oceanic
Garland - Barbashev - Askew Smith - Burke - Zilbert Leger - Bower - Jacob Tibbo - Murphy - Cormier Corson
Defense pairings vs #Oceanic
Johnston - Sweeney Holwell - Talbot-Tassi Malatesta
strange game to play Corson and go with 5 d-men...I assume Klenanskyj is suspended or injured, weird they didn't get an AF.

Funny, Rumble said in the paper that it was a great game. I thought it was boring as hell. Not a bad strategy by the Cats though, to try and clog the middle instead of getting in a track meet they know they would lose...still not very entertaining, the last 10 minutes with the cats losing by 1 they barely had any chances until the goalie was pulled. Those 2 minute + shifts must have caught up to Barbashev and Garland.

I thought it was a good game by Moncton , first period was fast with not many whistles. Oceanic have a big fast team that can really skate and move the puck. They seemed to turn it on when they wanted to and had Moncton running around on quite a few occasions. Missing Johnson , Beaton and Klebansky really hurt Moncton especially our D, Moncton really didn't have a good second defense pairing without Klebansky ! I thought Dubeau played well , he only let in one goal that was iffy IMO. All four lines played well and Rumble didn't really shorten the bench until mid way through the third. Barbashev is finally playing like his old self again, he must have been hurt from WJHC. I would not want to meet the Oceanic or BLB in a seven game series , hopefully BLB and Oceanic beat each other up before Moncton sees them ! I really like the way Rumble has brought this team along , I prefer his coaching style over Danny Flynn.

We did seem to run out of gas at the end and couldn't really mount a push. But Missing Beaton and not using Corson ... and having Cormier only out for a handful of shifts meant we were really only going with 3 lines. Garland and Barbashev did have several long shifts which played into our finish. Or Dmen didn't look as gassed as our forwards did ... and there were only 5 of them.

Having no success on the powerplay didn't help.
