Having no success on the powerplay didn't help. Absolutely, a lot of credit to Guindon there. The cats created a ton of great chances on their powerplay in the first but Guindon made some terrific stops. They could have won the game if the converted on one of those chances. Late in the game the powerplay was awful though, they didn't get a shot on that 4 minute PP and could hardly enter the zone.

I thought it was a good game by Moncton , first period was fast with not many whistles. Oceanic have a big fast team that can really skate and move the puck. They seemed to turn it on when they wanted to and had Moncton running around on quite a few occasions. Missing Johnson , Beaton and Klebansky really hurt Moncton especially our D, Moncton really didn't have a good second defense pairing without Klebansky ! I thought Dubeau played well , he only let in one goal that was iffy IMO. All four lines played well and Rumble didn't really shorten the bench until mid way through the third. Barbashev is finally playing like his old self again, he must have been hurt from WJHC. I would not want to meet the Oceanic or BLB in a seven game series , hopefully BLB and Oceanic beat each other up before Moncton sees them ! I really like the way Rumble has brought this team along , I prefer his coaching style over Danny Flynn. Klebanskyj usually plays on the 3rd pairing not the second one.

Funny, Rumble said in the paper that it was a great game. I thought it was boring as hell. Not a bad strategy by the Cats though, to try and clog the middle instead of getting in a track meet they know they would lose...still not very entertaining, the last 10 minutes with the cats losing by 1 they barely had any chances until the goalie was pulled. Those 2 minute + shifts must have caught up to Barbashev and Garland. I was entertained. I appreciate hard work and don't mind losing to a good team when our guys are working hard. We did seem to run out of gas at the end and couldn't really mount a push. But Missing Beaton and not using Corson ... and having Cormier only out for a handful of shifts meant we were really only going with 3 lines. Garland and Barbashev did have several long shifts which played into our finish. Or Dmen didn't look as gassed as our forwards did ... and there were only 5 of them. Garland and Barbashev taking long shifts is not a product of Beaton or anybody else being out, they do it every game and Rumble doesn't seem to mind. It hurts the last 10 minutes and will surely impact the late season and playoffs. Hard to have any juice left as a forward playing 24-26 minutes a game.

I wish they would have given Corson a shift or two. I know it was a tight game but a couple of shifts wouldn't have hurt.
