One other knock on Garland is he has recently been taking more retaliation and unsportsmanlike penalties. He is getting targeted by opponents for obvious reasons and they are trying to get him to react ... and it is working. He has to keep his cool. He also has to stop complaining to Refs every time he gets hit or impeded. Last night he got an unsportsmanlike call from the same Refs that worked the game in BC where he got a misconduct. They are obviously tiring of his antics after the whistle. The misconduct he got late in overtime against BC didn't seem to hurt the Wildcats.

Hasn't anyone thought the extra time Garland plays is intentional in order to help him win the scoring championship and so encourahe Scouts to take a more serious look at him. The extra minutes are good for his career, and good for the team as he obviously has the endurance to play at a top level for longer than most players. Good on Garland and good on Rumble He isn't getting any extra ice time than he did in November. He just takes long shifts and always has this year. I don't think it has anything to do with a scoring title. However, you may see him get extra time as we go forward to win the title. He can't really handle much more ... but you might see him get late PP time in a lopsided game where normally we'd take our top unit off of the PP. At the same time, you have to expect that he and Barbashev will sit more in lopsided games to rest them ... and protect them from head hunters. The Sherbrooke game was an example of this from what I recall the top line only played a few shifts in the 3rd period

Rumble must be some sort of hockey genius...imagine giving your best players more icetime...the most dangerous weapons you have on the ice more frequently...wow...keep it quiet if this catches on it could revolutionalize hockey. I hope the media doesn't catch on...is it even legal?

You all missed the point. Yes garland can score. Yes he is a great player. All I said the selfishness is the lack of coming off the ice. Not his play making ability as we all know he is without a doubt the best in the league. His whole line changes but him. Takes away from other kids with fresh legs. Gonna hurt them at the end of the year. That's all

If it was an issue, Rumble (who is involved in hockey since you think that is the only thing that qualifies you to issue an opinion) would have dealt with it by now. I figure it is encouraged by Rumble if anything. Re some of your comments, by listening to some former players on TV, being involved or playing at higher levels doesn't necessarily make you more observant of what goes on in the game. WHat if he shortened his shifts all year and the Cats lost 5 games because of that, maybe the Cats are only 6-7th overall and get a tougher opponent in the first round.

He scores that many points on extended shifts? Maybe if he shortened his shifts they win 5 more games? first place overall would be all but sewn up

i wish that 91.9 would still be covering the cats games. 105.1 isn't getting it done.

Also Barbashev reaches 200 career pts today. I wonder what the Cats could do without those 2 selfish players.

With 12 games remaining , looks like Garland will set records for both most points in a regular season and most assists (previously held by Dupuis).
Can't believe he's only 18 and we'll likely have him for another couple of seasons.
