My guess would be Meier - D. Moyinhan - Putinisev Watt - Somppi - Fortier C. Moynihan - Crossley - Durandeau Blain-Dupuis - Dachyshyn - Shewfelt You could probably swap Shewfelt and C. Moynihan if you wanted to put more speed on the 3rd line. No Bent? Oops. Although I wouldn't be too disappointed if he weren't there in all honesty. Blain-Dupuis is probably the 13th forward.

I'm definitely in the trade Meier camp, whenever the best return is offered. Of course, trading a Euro can be tricky, though not impossible (does Meier have a no trade/no move clause?) and other teams would need to upgrade on their Euros (may have to dump one to do it). All about helping/expedite the rebuild.

Oops. Although I wouldn't be too disappointed if he weren't there in all honesty. Blain-Dupuis is probably the 13th forward. I personally think Joel Bishop is much better than Blain... probably better than Shewfelt too, honestly. Shewfelt will stay in the lineup because we need the veteran presence, and he's somebody who's conditioned to the grind of the Q schedule and the speed of the game. He's just not a very effective player. Reminds me a lot of Matthew Stoddard.

Will be interesting to see If Captain Timo's return makes a difference, I know right away it helps us offensively; but we started slow out of the gate last season and look were we finished.

Happy for him. But weird that SJ would use resources to sign a guy that has very little chance of being signed by any other team.

Huh ? This would indicate that you have little knowledge on how scouting works. He'll be in the pro pool next year.

What are you talking about?
Fitzgerald is a nice junior defenseman but I don't think many knowledgeable scouts ever see him cracking an NHL roster.

No, he COULD be in the pros next year, there is no guarantee that he be will as SJ could just as easily send him back to Halifax for his overage year. They did the same thing with Konrad Abeltshauser whom they drafted and was a better pro prospect at the same age.

If they brought him in and liked him as an undrafted player they risked not signing him and another team drafting him in June. Maybe they plan on him being in junior for 2 more years but wanted to get his name on a contract in order to keep his rights.

This is great news! Both for him and for the mooseheads. For Cavan an un drafted player to the Q and the NHL to get a NHL contract just goes to show hard work pays off. Congrats to goes out to Cavan.
As for the Mooseheads this just gave them another player to trade. I know he could be back in the league next year but there now a better chance he won't. Instead of losing him for nothing next year they should cash in on him. He's a guy that could be a very good second pairing on a contending team. Both him and Donaghey can fill that type of role to the top teams. The only problem is there seems to be a lot of high end defence that could become available this Christmas. If that happens these two guys value might not be as high as some think it should be.
