He has every right, they easily have been worse the last 7-8 games. It's beyond me how we didn't get a pp after that hit last night; I know Bent took the agressor but we still should have got a PP out of it.

If Bent takes the aggressor they can't give Francis more than five minutes. If Bent is in a mutual fight then you get a 5 min PP but if none of the Titan fight him there's nothing they can do to give the Moose a PP there. The worse Francis can get is a match penalty but that is still negated.

You commonly see this penalized as 5 for checking from behind, 5 for fighting and a game misconduct to Francis, then 2 for instigation, 5 for fighting and 10 min/game misconduct to Bent.

HotDog Ehlers is simply finally being recognized. We saw it fair and square at the KCI before without calls being made for diving.
He is simply being labelled now for what he did.
The same would have happened to Crosby if it was not for the super power of the Tanguays....

Not from what I saw of the incident. Bent was the only one who threw any punches and it wasn't even at Francis. Nothing any Titan did there could get them a fighting major. Usually in that situation they fight back but the Titan didn't. It was pickard Bent was throwing at but he wasn't fighting back. The league is tight o n this now with only one guy being the aggressor

The league is tight o n this now with only one guy being the aggressor I think it was Pickard he was throwing punches at. It's still the principal of the entire situation. When there is a dirty play like that, especially one that results in a player laying motionless on the ice, there will be an emotional response from the victimized team. Negating the major with another major is the WORST thing a ref can do, because after the incident, the play goes back to 5 on 5 (or 4 on 4) and then all hell continues to break loose. It's the same principal of a ref taking 1 player out of a scrum and awarding a powerplay to the other team. It mitigates the emotions on the ice because special teams generally doesn't get chippy and the offending team knows the result of getting into this scenario again. Bathurst got off essentially scott-free after the Crossley hit and emotions continued to soar. They let the game get out of hand. That's the point.

But as a referee how can you give a fighting major to someone who makes no attempt to fight? In that situation it was tough to call any other penalty that what they actually did. Bent was the only one throwing. It's not the first time that someone has jumped in after a dirty hit negating a PP but when Bent jumps in like that and no-one is fighting back the ref's hands are pretty much tied. But still normally with that the other guy fights back so they call matching fighting majors but the ref can't give someone a phantom fighting major just because it was a dirty hit.

You can think what you want but at least Ehlers does not try to intentionally hurt someone, like Francis did last night, then skate off the ice with a big smile on his face as a kid lay motionless on the ice and his teammate got punched out because of it. That scum should be gone for the rest of the season. But since it is the Titan it will not be a long suspension as there season is almost over.

It was a joke last night for sure. Goons being goons because they are in last. Got excited they were beating halifax, then blew it and turned to the dirty game. The titan as a team are a joke and guys like chsb have only elhers to goat about.
Although Elhers has raw talent and is one of the (if not) best forwards in the league, he has created himself a repetition with the refs of this league. That's hard to crack once spread throughout the refs. Kind of afraid the same thing is happening with Svechnikov here in cape breton.

Guys you don't get the point I can feel the Moose passion but Picott/Arseneault lost control last night he was defending his teammate, someone should have taken him. No news on a suspension to Francis, if that kid is not suspended there are going to be some pretty pissed off Halifax fans; Bent got 2 games.
