Shawinigan does no favours to the Cats tonight.
One Rimouski win + one Cats regulation loss finishes it, but it's a long way from over yet.

What we have always needed was Rimouski to drop one point ... and us to win out. If Rimouski drops 2 pts then we can afford to drop one. If Rimouski gets 6 pts in their final 3 then they get 1st ... nothing we can do about it. There are a number of combinations where they can lose games and still get 1st. Our job is to win 3 games.

Are they playing all 3 games? Did they say if/when they are playing in Halifax? Is there a scenario where we wouldn't need to play Sunday ? I doubt it. Hal/SJ/Char/CB/RN (and Gatineau sort of also) are all battling for position ... too many teams for Halifax's final game to not matter in the matchups. If Rimouski wins their next 2, and we lose our next 2, BBA still has a chance to get ahead of us. If Rimouski loses their next 2, and we win our next 2, then Sunday doesn't matter for us, but probably does for Halifax. If Rimouski splits with Quebec, we need to play all 3 games to get ahead of them, with an extra time loss being enough. We need just one point to clinch at least 2nd, ahead of BBA. So ... it looks to me that the game has to be played ... but we'll have to watch how it all plays out. It may hinge more on Halifax needing to play than Moncton.

Plenty of ways for it not to matter from a Moncton stand point but from a Halifax stand point, the only way I can think of that it wouldn't matter would be if Rouyn-Noranda wins their next two games,Halifax loses their next 2 games and Cape Breton does as well. It might be a little bit easier(Maybe only 1 win for Rouyn and 1 loss for CB but I'm not sure what the tie-breaker scenario is.)

Lalonde sat out his team's game against Rimouski on Wednesday because he hates the Wildcats and didn't want to potentially help them out. Will Tkachev do the same tonight??

Really thought Quebec would at least get a split against Rimouski, but junior hockey's most overrated goaltender threw a wrench into that.
The good news is that Booth is playing tomorrow and Quebec still has something to play for.
