Seems as though Home ice is out of reach now..... Does anyone think the team is tanking on purpose? Is their game plan now to get a higher draft pick and try to play Moncton in round one to save on gas and hotels?

i hate it how the q site doesn't show overall standings so we could see how far we're out of home ice advantage. i'm too lazy to do it one by one. they need gadoury and brassard back badly.

Near the top is a drop down menu. Switch it from "division" to "overall". That will give you the standings from 1st to 18th.

If they were to be tanking they are doing it all wrong- should have happened earlier by trading everybody of value last summer and Xmas. Resop has hit a wall with close to to 20 straight games in a row and we are dressing 5-6 rookie D every night.

You cant even realistically tank with Ehlers/Meier lol
They can legitimately win games as a duo if they're on and Resop doesn't let in 5+.
+ management might want to tank, but players never do that kinda stuff, so I'm gonna go with no.

I don't know what context you are/were taking my statement in but it is basically the same as you responded back to me in. I was stating a fact and it wasn't meant to be an indictment of the Mooseheads, just saying this is the way things are. Hopefully playing Resop and all these young D will bear fruit next year... and maybe enough this year to win a playoff round.

I already see big improvment in all the D that have been with team all season. And Sam Hunter fits in well. Argento looks like he is a good puck mover - but it is early. They got trapped in their zone in the 3rd period vs Char'town and it cost them. But the Cape Breton game I squarely place that loss on the Moosehead forward that could not put enough mustard on the puck to clear the blue line...I think it was Connor Moynihan but some of these games it is lack of support for the young D that costs the Mooseheads. And add Resop to that list - he has had to play umpteen games in a row. Thats not fair to him but if Brassard would be back there the D would look better...IMO - now we have no idea what he will even be like after this layoff and if he gets scared of getting reinjured it may affect hiw he plays the position. I think Brassard covered the bottom of net and square to the posts very well (looked like he did not rely on scrambling to make the save).

That game goes to overtime 99% of the time. The lack of mustard on the clearing attempt allowed Martineau to keep it in and then get the puck to Farrel who then got the puck to Leblanc who put the shot on net resulting in the goal. It's one of those plays that just leave a sour taste in your mouth. Kind of like 3 putting from 2 feet in a round of golf. We've seen it happen a lot in the first half of the season to the Eagles. Failing to the clear the blue line on innocent plays that ended up in our net. With 36 seconds left it definitely multiplies the pain. I'm a big fan of "hard off the glass" or "Ice it". Early in the year the Eagles seemed to be allergic to icing the puck or slamming it off the boards with authority when under siege or hemmed in by the other team in key times of the game. Which resulted in timid clearing attempts or weak outlet passes that got picked off and eventually ended up in our net. I know that the Moose player who tried to clear the puck in the latter stages of the period didn't intend on whiffing on it and keeping it in the zone. It's just one of those unfortunate plays that happen in hockey.

It's just one of those unfortunate plays that happen in hockey. Depending on playoff seedings it could be a costly 1 point squandered. It figures though. Recall the last game at C200 when the Moose got behind 4-0 and Timo Meier single handedly got them 4 goals to get the point and then lose in extra. This is why we love junior hockey because you never know. I say to fans that leave early...might be sorry u did.

5 games left- 1 on the road against Bathurst, 2 against St. John and 2 against Moncton.
I could see the Mooseheads going 1-4 maybe even 0-5 as they haven't beaten St. John all year, Moncton is the top team in the division and Bathurst has played the Mooseheads tough all year.
Falling back to 13th isn't that bad- not like the Mooseheads are winning anything this year anyways and 13th seed would give us Quebec as of right now which would be entertaining and give us 6th overall pick and 6 picks in the top 60 barring any trades.

We're certainly not tanking on purpose. We have 4 legit scorers (1 is hurt), but after that the drop off is ineradicable. Look at the point drop off from Gadoury to the next best guy, which is Fortier.
Ehlers has 94 points Meier has 86 Moynihan has 63 Gadoury has 58 Fortier has 28 Watt has 18.
Fitzgerald has 30 as a defenseman, but our forward depth is terrible, and our D is young. Respop isn't that good. He's okay on most nights, good on others, terrible on others.
We're about where we should be in the standings given that we have 2 of the best players in the league carrying what is otherwise an 17th place team.
