Because we're setting 50 year snowfall records. Twice in a lifetime snowfalls tend to be a big deal. You're all candy asses ... we get that type of snowfall twice a year ... not twice in a lifetime. Not sure why anytime there is a big storm in this area and the streets aren't safe to be driving on (or possible to be driving on), people from Moncton shows up to act like this happens every Sunday there and its not big deal and we're all "candy asses". We have like 3 times the population crammed into a hilly area. We just had 25+- cm on Sunday to make things even worse, on top of the big ice snow banks that haven't melted. It was a tricky drive BEFORE this storm. I haven't seen snowfall like this (we all went to bed last night before it even started) since White Juan in 2004. In that storm we got I believe 100 cm in 24 hours... this one is probably going to be in the 50-75 cm range I'd imagine in about 12 hours. Tough to get everyone out of their neighborhoods and safely able to travel downtown that fast.

Why not just move the Rainmen game to the Forum? I mean it's not like people are going to go to see that garbage anyway.

Good for you. When you don't get that much regularly and then do get it then there's going to be issues handling it. Be no different if Miami got 20cm right now. Only we're getting 50 2 days after getting 60....few places in Canada get that twice a year...

I'm still snowed in and not much point shoveling till it stops drifting, as I'm sure many others are Safety first. Moncton is here, but we have no where to play tomorrow night as the Scotiabank Center is booked for Rainmen playoffs and for those that think Truro the Rath Eastlink Community Center is booked tomorrow night too for Game 4 between Truro vs Pictou; season supposedly ends Saturday so not sure they can make it up Sunday. "...season supposedly ends Saturday so not sure they can make it up Sunday." The schedule stops on Saturday. There is no reason the league can't allow a game the next day when something prevented them from completing the schedule. There will be no playoff games until next Friday across the league. Hardly will 5 days not be enough time for them to get the schedules straight. We know most of the 7 home teams that will open at home on weekend just not who they are playing. Bottom line - building availability Sunday - the World Curling guys move in as soon as Monday to ready the ice for curling when teams start arriving for that tournament Wednesday they need the ice to practice on Thursday. I a not sure if anything is scheduled for Scotiabank Center on Sunday....Rainmen again?? Anything?

Get the Moosehead bus out to pick up the players and Officials (Thomander and whomever else you guys have that are local) ... thats all you need. People can get there if they give themselves enough time. Why is it that people in Moncton don't let 30 cm of snow bother them ... but to everybody else the world is coming to an end ? Because we get so much practice - what are we up to, 450 plus cm of snow so far this winter? No wonder 30 cm doesn't faze us or the city crews anymore ... 450? We had 470cm before the 45 we got on Sunday/Monday. Plus another 15 last night/today.

I still don't know how these conflicts happen with the playoffs. The Mooseheads are the major tenant for the "ScotiaBank Centre" and bring in lots of money, so why schedule something like Curling in the middle of the playoffs.

Why are we having a pissing contest over who gets more snow or he can handle it better. Are the fans that competitive with one another? We might as well talk about Moncton getting all the better concerts over Halifax, if the competition is that fierce.

Hmm, pretty much a no brainer to take on a world class event like the men's worlds. Its a whole week full of crowds, lots of tourists/teams/media From around the world . hotels fill up around town even though the week. I would not be upset to lose the coliseum to an event like that .Instead we lose it to the boat show , an event that doesn't even need an actual Ice surface.

Just because we get it twice a year doesn't mean it doesn't shut things down. On Sunday we got less than what Halifax got today....pretty much the entire city was shut down well into Monday. The same thing happened the last Sunday storm we got. So not sure what point you're trying to make here. Halifax got bombed today big time. Makes sense that the game is cancelled...and it would've been cancelled here as well in similar circumstances

When you get a chance to bring that in you do it.

When you get a chance to bring that in you do it. If Bobby Smith wanted to pay more to guarantee exclusivity for that time slot when most QMJHL teams need a home arena (the first round) then that type of event would not happen. Smith doesnt want to pay more - in fact a few years back he threatened to move the team to the Forum as leverage when they negotiated a new lease. He could buy that guarantee but it does not make sense for him to do it. If he would have had a team like in 2013 he may have wanted it more. The Mooseheads are the major tenant but not exclusive - that costs more and probably very few Q teams would pony up for that lease benefit. In the big scheme of things for Halifax its better to have the World Curling Championships than not to have it. Scotiabank Center is certainly a deal breaker when bidding for it.
