Any rumblings how they are going to squeeze this game in? You think they would have an idea by now.

Any rumblings how they are going to squeeze this game in? You think they would have an idea by now. Only speculation. You would think there is a problem on the Halifax end or this would be announced by now. Must be some reason that they have not yet decided on having the game Sunday... But again the entire Q playoff plan (all 8 first round matchups, all travel plans, all building dates) can not be clarified until it is played....

I believe they have already announced that game is scheduled at Sunday at 4:00 PM.
It isn't really a big deal to extend the season by a day. Both teams will play a 3 in 3 with 2 home games each ... so that should not affect the outcome.
The advantage to Moncton is they will now know if they have a chance to get 1st overall before the game. We need Rimouski to drop 1 pt and us win all 3 remaining games. Nothing easy about any of that ... but Rimouski has 2 left with Quebec so not easy for them either.

From Moncton's Newspaper
"Moncton will meet Halifax on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Scotiabank Centre in the makeup game.
There was some talk of playing the makeup game on Thursday at 9 a.m., given the schedule challenges with this being the final week of the regular season. This would’ve given Scotiabank Centre staff enough time to transform the building from a hockey rink into a basketball court for the Halifax Rainmen’s game Thursday night."

Good for me I guess, because I couldn't make the Wednesday game even with no snow. But I know Moncton's playoff situation is iffy with their building availability. Read your post Pens that they'd probably have to start on the road. Moncton shouldn't have a problem in the first round anyway (As long as they don't play Victoriaville.. ). It might actually be an advantage. You split the first two games on the road, then you have 4 of the next 5 games at home, including probably three in a row. With the situations teams run into when their rink is in use, I can't believe the city was thinking about demolishing the Forum. I know the Mooseheads don't mean much in the grand scheme of city planning. But having that 4700 seat rink availble has saved our bacon on a number of occasions. What would we do this year if we didn't have it? The Sportsplex seats 2800, but I'm not sure if even that is big enough for the league to consider it an alternate site.

Yes ... so its a good idea to spend millions a year to keep the Forum open ... so that you can play two Moose games their every 5 years or so.

On the Moncton board, I was trying to figure out if there is a scenario where this game would not have to be played. Where you guys are battling with CB/Char/RN/SJ and even GAT (not sure of the tie-breaker situation), I think your final game will matter in the matchups.
The only way it doesn't matter to Moncton is if Rimouski loses their next 2, and Moncton wins the next 2. But I think it will still matter to Halifax and the teams they are jostling with.
There may be a remote possibility that the game is not needed ... and we'll know Saturday night. Halifax would probably like to have that final gate from a business standpoint ... but not like they'll go broke without it.

But if it doesn't make money, and if it's sitting on a gold mine of land that the city could sell and make money off of, then there's no sense in having the Forum there. We're just spoiled that's all. Don't know why the Rainmen don't go there. When they start getting 4700 fans per game, then they can consider renewing with the Scotiabank Centre. But a venue like the Forum would be much less expensive than the ScotiaBank Centre.

I don't think you can play basketball in a facility like that. If it is climate controlled ... disregard that input.

If: - Halifax loses both of their games - Rouyn Noranda wins both of their games (Or a win and an OT point) - Cape Breton loses both of their games (Playing Bathurst twice) - Gatineau loses one of their possible 4 points Then Halifax will be alone with 68 points and unable to catch anyone even if they beat Moncton. There are a lot of other combinations that involve tie-breakers and so on. But that's the simplist scenario. There are a heck of a lot more scenarios in which they'll need to play Sunday.

I seem to remember them having a basketball floor though.
