What I would like to see is another championship... so I would choose coach Danny Flynn and have him make these players defensively responsible. I'd have him show the forwards how to get open for a pass out of their zone and in their opponent's zone. I'd show the defensemen how to get a puck out of their defensive zone avoiding the high risk play. This would probably be at the expense of Garland's scoring title. But if we're going to talk players, I would either to go with Riopel or Chris Gaudet. With Flynn, we're not talking about a scoring title for Garland and we're not talking about finishing first overall this year. Defensively, the team would be better but offensively it would take a major hit. I would take Ted Nolan before Flynn to get this team fired up for the playoffs.

They are 9-1 the last 10 and won 6 straight, I'd say they are already fired up for the playoffs

One of, if not the most fun regular season in Cats history and THIS is the response you come up with in a fun thread like this one? Yikes. To each his own I guess, but in terms of getting my money's worth for season tickets, the first two seasons of the Rumble/Shannon era blow away the last three years of the Flynn era. I agree that the defensive play obviously isn't great and the forwards cheat too much at times, but as catnut said, if Flynn is coaching this team I doubt they're even that good. No one was expecting a championship this season so I'll gladly take a really fun team like this.

I am enjoying this season just as much as any other fan. I appreciate this season as much as I appreciated most season. But you have to understand that we have always had teams that focus toward being responsible defensively since Tom Coolen left. This year has been a big adjustment for the some fans that aren't used to see players repeat certain mistakes over and over or seeing so many goals that are directly related to 2-3 players being out of position at the same time. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the season. I'm probably having just as much fun as you and anyone else. This team reminds me of the Washing Capitals under Bruce Boudreau. Great in the regular season and fun to watch in the regular season. I am not convinced yet that it is built for a playoff run. But regardless of what happens, I promise not to say "I told you so.", but I do welcome you and anyone else to call me out if I'm wrong.

I don't necessarily disagree with some of what you're saying, but I thought it was an odd time and place for that "rant" of sorts. The facts we have up to this point is that under Rumble the team has surpassed expectations two seasons in a row. I thought they could potentially challenge for the division this season, but not run away with it. Of course, other teams not living up to expectations certainly played into that as well, but you can't take anything away from the Cats. The last two years of the Flynn era? Team performed below expectations and for the most part were not enjoyable to watch. The 2011/12 season may have been the most dreadful hockey I've ever watched. We all know what a disaster the following season was and admittedly that wasn't ALL on Flynn. I appreciate everything Danny Flynn brought to the organization, but at the same time his time to move on had come. As for the playoffs I'm certainly quite anxious to see how that plays out. The Cats have had a couple dreadful performances against the better teams in the league so that's obviously a bit concerning. We've seen the Barbashev/Garland line get shut down a few times and that often doesn't end well. Can someone shut them down for a series though? The way the league is this year though I don't really see any flawless teams out there. I think that after Rimouski, the Cats have as good a chance as anyone.
