Moncton's last regular season trip to the Metro Centre Scotiabank Centre tonight and it's already been an adventurous trip as they decided yesterday afternoon to beat the storm and went down last night for a rare hotel stay in the Halifax. There's already a big thread on how important Moncton's remaining games are so I won't get into that but this is also important for Halifax who is currently tied for 11th with a game in hand and only 3 points behind 9th place with a game in hand. Rimouski is also playing tonight(vs. Shawinigan, Go Cats Go) for if the Cats win and Rimouski loses a point, the Cats will then control their own destiny. Stolen from the @reesor on the Halifax board: "Moncton leads the season series 5 to 2. Moncton's Dynamic Duo of Garland/Barbashev have 217 points in 120 games (Combined 1.80 points/game between them). Halifax's Dynamic Duo of Ehlers/Meier have 188 points in 106 games (Combined 1.77 points/game between them)." The Mooseheads will no doubt start Eric Brassard who will be facing the Cats for the first time this season. The last time the Cats faced him he stopped 30 of 33 shots for a 4-3 shootout win. Neither of Moncton's goalscorers are still on the team.(Tkachev 2, Lalonde) Dubeau will probably get the start for the Cats. This season vs. Halifax he has a .923 save percentage and a 2.05 and he usually plays very well at the Metro Centre. Last season he had a .936 save percentage against the Mooseheads which is phenomenal. Go Cats Go!

The storm in Nova Scotia is quite bad I guess. Despite the players already being in Halifax, the league is still contemplating their options.
Halifax Mooseheads @hfxmooseheads · 47 minutes ago The league is discussing the situation on tonight's game and will advise us of their final decision at 2pm. #nsstorm

They still haven't made a decision but I can't see it being cancelled. Yes they've had a lot of snow fall already but it's pretty much stopped except for flurries.
If it was any other time of the year I'd say cancel it but with the Cats already there and no other day available to reschedule without extending the seasons I say just play it. Give the fans who have tickets the option to get a ticket to a playoff game or something.

One would think if the team is already there, the game will go on despite whatever the forecast indicated. On a side note I spent my working life in aviation and the Halifax(Stanfield) Intl - CYHZ Terminal aviation forecast(which is quite detailed as compared to public EC forecasts) isn't showing much in way of bad WX. However, the League decides........
Hope Cats win as I believe they will.

They must be staying up and playing Thursday?

Without knowing the full reasoning and the solution - brutal decision.

They must be staying up and playing Thursday? Rainmen playoff game Thursday night. Haven't heard what they're planning. Sunday would be my guess.

From a safety stand point i understand, but forcing a three in three during this crucial end to the season is just Brutal. Could ultimately end our shot at first

Looking at aviation hourly reports and Terminal area forecast, plus the associated downtown web cams, I have been to games in a hell of a lot worse conditions both Moncton and Halifax. Then again perhaps other issues at play, snowplowing/buildup, maybe officials couldn't get in etc, etc. Who knows but I bet the league wouldn't do this without a very good reason. Gonna be rough next few playing days but this is the Maritimes with our shit wx........ chin-up, stiff upper lip and get on with it.

They'll play Sunday and it will be a 3 in 3 for both teams. Sucks that it's extending the season by a day but oh well.

One good thing is if that game doesn't mean anything the Cats can sit out Barbashev, Garland, Dubeau, etc.
I seriously hope they're not going to try and play a home playoff game Wednesday though. Might as well just take the four days off and start on the road next Friday.

Sent from my SGH-I337M using proboards The only issue is the 3 in 3 for both teams really and in this league that happens all the time. I was against cancelling the game but the police and authorities were asking people to stay off the roads. They just do not take chances with this stuff anymore. In fact Thursday morning the Mayor is holding a press conference with Emergency Measures. University campuses are closed Thurs AM and the snow is blowing around drifting. The whole league will have to wait to know their playoff seedings so its not like any team in the Q gets an advantage until this game gets played if it is played Sunday. Its a minor delay. I feel bad for Cats having to get to Halifax for a game they could not play. Two weeks ago Halifax had to drive 9 hours to get from Baie Comeau to Rimouski because of ice in the river. Happens. Every team's seeding and positioning will depend on this so its not a huge advanatge to anyone else. The Cats can be in great position by winning 2 home games before then so they should take advantage and play the hand they are dealt.
