Why do fans whine about this every year? The Cats don't own the arena they use it. When they are not playing the facility still needs events to ensure it makes money. The shows and events at the coliseum are booked months or years in advance and are not contingent on a junior hockey team making the playoffs. It happens every year they always find a solution and the playoffs go on...this year will be no different. If you bothered reading the thread instead of replying in your usual condescending tone, you would have noticed that no one complained or whined about it. The only one who questioned it is a Moose fan who has no idea how the Coliseum is booked.

All I know abut the coliseum is they make anyone who steps on the ice to do anything wear a helmet (except wild wilie because his head would supposedly cushion a fall). Total overkill on satisfying their insurer. Thought the money they saved in premiums could put them in the black - guess not. I hope the Cats go a little while this playoff year so I will have some junior hockey to watch on my business trips!

Well first of all, not everybody is tuned into this board, vast majority of fans are not and probably care less. Having said that, the initial poster does have a valid point as I hear the complaining amongst the group around us, especially if the first games are out of town due scheduling time at Coliseum. In other words " I paid for my play-off and want no disruptions, to hell with others at Colisuem as not into boats/cars/home/christmas shows etc. etc.". I know of people who won't go near Wildcats hockey cause the Irvings run it, making a shit ton of money they feel and won't contribute a dime to Irving profit. Folks do have that opinion but whatever. It certainly isn't mine and shudder to think if RKI wasn't into it, where would the team be as myself and other half do enjoy Cats games been seasons holders past 15 yrs I think.

It's sad, now coaches don't even shake hands after minor hockey games. Sent from my SGH-I337M using proboards

The cameramen, the interviewers, the players have to keep their helmet for the team picture on the ice, etc. etc.

Figure skaters also get a pass on the law because apparently they know how to fall properly. Moncton also, makes the teams shake hands before games so there is no,post game handshake...

I'm just trying to picture figure skaters with a helmet. Figure skaters also get a pass on the law because apparently they know how to fall properly. Moncton also, makes the teams shake hands before games so there is no,post game handshake... I have been at tournaments in Moncton since the by-law came into effect, and teams still celebrated championships with their helmets off on the ice ... It isn't like they have an army of by-law enforcement officers on hand to police it (the rink attendant might tell you to put one on, but no guarantee they are around at any point in time, especially at four ice centre with multiple sheets on the go). Even parents with cameras end up on the ice at times ... Coaches/trainers if there is an injury in a minor hockey game - the by-law is good in theory, but if I am coaching a minor hockey game and a player gets hurt and is down on the ice, I am not waiting around for a helmet to materialize before someone from the bench goes to tend to him - and to date, no one has stopped anyone that I can see ... the refs don't care - it isn't their rule to enforce ...

Coaches go on the ice for injured players...parents with cameras have been told to stay off the ice or provided a helmet for when they go on the ice to take pictures. Coaches going on the ice after games are told to get off without a helmet. I cant remember ever seeing a coach falling on the ice after a game during the handshake...but we have this rule now. The ice is so chewed up after a game it is like walking on regular ground anyway. The rule was most likely intended to get helmets on public skaters who vary in skill level so much that an ankle grinding beginner could bowling ball an olympic champion and cause an injury. But as usual the rule goes to far...thank you insurance companies.
