The Wildcats look to extend their winning streak to 8 games in their final home game of the regular season in a rare 4PM Saturday game.
Connor Garland has a 6 pt lead on Dylan Strome and a 9 point lead on Connor McDavid for the CHL scoring title. The Erie Otters teammates have 2 games remaining.
The Islanders are only 1 point ahead of the Sea Dogs so they will still be trying their best to win this game.
The Wildcats are going to need the Remparts to win today for this game to have any meaning. They are still 2 points behind Rimouski with a game in hand but the Oceanic have the edge in the tie-breaker.
Today could mark the 5th straight home game that the Wildcats get over 6000 in attendance. Pretty remarkable considering how terrible attendance was at the start of the season.
Let's rattle the cage! Go Cats Go!

So, with the impending storm, do they need to pull out for Halifax immediately following the game? With the blowing snow forecasted, it's no guarantee the marsh will be accessible Sunday.

I really hope the cats finish first but it seems unlikely at this point. The one downside to finishing second is that there is a real chance to play Gatineau in the first round. If Chicoutimi wins tonight against Baie-Comeau (they beat them yesterday) and Gatineau loses to Shawinigan then Moncton will have to face Gatineau in the first round. Gatineau is the only team in the bottom 5 playoff eligible teams or so that I think could actually beat Moncton in the first round. They are one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs with 8 wins in their last 10 which is tied for second behind Moncton.

If it's true that Quebec is sitting out players today I don't like our chances of getting any help. At least Booth will be in goal for them. Obviously the Cats have to take care of their own business first though. But yes...the potential of having to start on the road against Gatineau...ugh.

so all we have to wish is that if we win our next two and chicoutimi loses today, we play them in the first round.

There are advantages to starting on the road. Home ice advantage to me really comes into play when the 7th game in the series is at home. The pressure of winning those first two home games is huge, and going into the visitors rink after splitting those first two games on increases the pressure. I personally think having the first two games at home is over-rated.
If you finish near the top of the league and can't manage a split in the first two games on the road, with the next three games at home, you are in trouble regardless.

I tend to agree ... and where we are one of the best road teams in the Q ... I think we'll do fine.

Just a hunch but I have a feeling we'll start Rioux today and tomorrow and maybe the first few playoff games. Dubeau already has a few records so it's time for Rioux to shine.
Heck, might as well scratch Dubeau completely. Isn't Hugo Talbot-Tassi's season done? Maybe he's in town visiting his brother and he can dress as backup.
Just a suggestion.

Did Moncton have many 4PM Saturday games?

If the higher seed doesn't always start off with home ice, how is that decided?

I'm not sure if this was written somewhere but you were actually bang on about Rioux starting and Talbot-Tassi backing him up.

So is this just resting Dubeau or did he get hurt last night?

I wasn't able to make the game. Is Rioux just playing poorly or is Moncton just giving up too many chances?

a little unfair to judge Rioux after several weeks on the bench.

a little unfair to judge Rioux after several weeks on the bench. No it's not, he sucks, if the coaches were smart that would be Rioux's last game in a Wildcat uniform.
