After showing so much discipline in the 2nd period when Quebec tried to initiate half a dozen fights, the Eagles hurt themselves with the two early penalties in the 3rd period that opened the door for their comeback.
Also disappointed when neither D reacted to Erne busting out of his end on that set play off the faceoff in the Quebec end where he scored on the breakaway.
One of the best games in Eagles history... but also one of the most heart-stopping!
Do you think that pulling out the win despite blowing that lead.... will help FINALLY get the third period self-doubt out of the guys' heads?
It seemed the tide turned once we started playing that 1-3-1 trap. Why not keep on playing the way that got you the big lead in the first place? Sitting on leads = we have already seen far too many times how that movie plays out.
The physical play seemed to be what put us over the top tonight. Especially the hitting and energy from guys like Martineau, Tower, etc. And of course there's Bishop. Finally found his game after not being the same player since his injury. And that hit that led to the Hinds goal = the hit of the year. Man, C200 exploded.
Fucale probably in net for them the rest of the way. He has the pedigree to turn a series around by himself... and showed flashes of that brillance tonight. But still waffled on Leveille's second goal, barely waving at it. How the plot thickens.
We haven't seen a night at the Nest like that in 6-7 years.

When was the last one deer? The last I can remember is game 5 against Valdor. Their must be one or two after that!
Tough spot for Sully and he responded . I too think they will go back to Belanger .
I dono hal. Sullivan looked great coming in. You cannot blame Belanger for the blown lead. We were on our heals the whole period. Should be interesting to see what dumont does!

Unbelievably tough spot. I don't know how Sullivan did it.
Also a heck of a bold move on Dumont's part to make the goaltending change at 5-5.
Big difference from the 4-1 lead that slipped away against Bathurst, when he didn't even call a timeout. Tonight, the timeout AND the goaltending change were efforts to make a switch when things were going down the hill. Ultimately, it worked - although I'm sure many of us still don't know how!

How about the night Murdock MacLellan scored in OT to cap the series win against Lewiston (2008)?
That same year, we had a 3OT classic against Halifax.. unfortunately we lost, but still a classic game.
Tonight was easily the best game at C200 since that 2007-2008 season.

Games like that are why we are sports fans.
Win or lose, by the end of it almost 3200 people were leaving that rink mentally and physically exhausted due to the amazing effort they seen put forth by both teams.
How many times do you see a team blow a 4 goal lead, still win the game, and both backup goaltenders end up with the decisions?
A complete and total team effort from all 20 guys on our side.
How much did Clark Bishop come to lead his team into battle tonight? Nice goal to start things off. A workhorse on the PK. And of course a hit on Adam Erne that will go down as legendary:
Losing Lazarev killed our depth and by the end of it we were starting to see it as their big guns had a lot more in the tank later in the 3rd. The day off should really help us, especially if as others have said there's a chance both Lazarev and Farrell can play.
Hinds was an absolute force. 1 goal and 3 assists. Great in the faceoff circle and really helped filled the void left by Farrell's injury.
Leveille could have easily had 3 or 4 goals. Always putting the puck on net and making good things happen.
Svechnikov was creating all night. His overall effort was excellent. Took the early penalty but didn't let Quebec get to him.
How about the effort displayed by Martineau? He never takes a shift off.
Lalonde with the game winner.Even though his stat line is 0+0 Gosselin was solid in his own end all night. MacIntyre and Deschamps as well. The D core as a whole had issues the 10 minutes or so Quebec started to take the game to us but for the most part our positioning really limited their chances.
Tower, Smith, Boucher, and Brunelle with never quit attitudes all night and stepping up in the 3rd when we needed some key minutes.
How does game 4 follow up that game 3? By offering up a Quebec Rempart team not wanting to face playoff elimination on Friday night. We will see the best of what they have to offer. If we can match that intensity then there could be another electric night in store.
The crowd was into every hit, save, goal and really helped lift the team when Quebec tied it. They're loving the lunch pail work ethic of this team and that should only continue into Thursdays game 4.

I absolutely questioned it. Bringing in a cold goalie at that point, with that offense seemingly only getting warmed up, was a big risk.

To me this game ranks up there with the greats in our playoff history at home. The comparables I would list would be the following:
Games 5 and 7 vs Chicoutimi in 01....Eliminating Baie-Comeau in OT and Games 3/6 vs Halifax in 02...Game 1 vs Chicoutimi in 04...Games 3 and 5 vs Val d'Or in 07...and eliminating Lewiston in OT and the 3 OT game vs Halifax that in 08.
Bishop must finally be healthy . Me thinks that late season visit from Cory Stillman may have lit a fire under the young Newfie because that "might" be the best game we have ever seen him play at C200 .
