I thought the Eagles would generate a lot more offense tonight with the two extra bodies but they didn't. How many offsides was the team guilty of? Top two offensive players get a late two on one and we didn't even get a good shot out of it. The first Quebec goal really bothered me because our D had a great chance to clear the puck and didn't. Jack you can say the refs didn't decide the outcome and that may be true but Mr. McCormack's calls tonight certainly didn't help the Eagles. The Eagles also didnt help the Eagles. They earned bounces in games 3 and 4 through hard work. There was little of that tonight.

Eagles are running out of gas vs a superior opponent. Has nothing to do with the refs. 2nd game this series we couldnt generate any offense. Have to give Fucale credit for a big game. Our big guns could not generate enough offense tonight. End of story. Our 20s actually played pretty poorly but dont let me stop you from blaming the officials. If you really think this loss had nothing to do with the refs you must not have wat he's the same game I did. The hit to the head call on Boucher was completely ridiculous, Brunelle's call for the same infraction was closer to an actual hit to the head but I still don't think it was. Bishop's slashing penalty on Fucale was ludicrous, he barely touched him and Fucale went down holding his leg like he got shot. Why can't there be a diving penalty without a penalty going the other way in return. Lastly, Svechnikov's goaltender interference penalty was bullshit. Fucale reaches out and slashes him in the leg as he skates by the net and we get the penalty. WOW, unbelievably bad. Those are just a few examples of what was a completely one sided game being called by the officials. Anyway, I already had my rant. Just hoping we can get a win Monday and then it's all down to one game on Tuesday. I agree worst ref game i have seen in a long time you are spot on they should have let the teams play hockey rather than ruin the game for the fans and i would bet that 90% of the fans tonight WOULD AGREE with you on those statements Mr. goeaglesgo. I believe the boys gave a great effort given the hard game last night.

Terrible give always. Refs were inconsistent but not as bad as the fans made it seem. Jack I figured out the girl you meant last night. Apparently Martineau is a freight train that's going to take Murphy's head clean off. She was on something for sure. We beat ourselves. Refs didn't help our cause.

Refs didn't seem to bother you when Quebec couldn't score on the PP.
Refing goes both ways, last night it went the Eagles' way. When a team runs after the puck instead of controlling it, more penalties will come.

When a team runs after the puck instead of controlling it, more penalties will come. Completely different game than last night. There were a lot of soft calls that were one sided. That goalie interference, then next shift gosselin gets his wrist almost taken off right in front of the same ref and no call. I won't sit here and blame the refs because we gave you guys the first two goals and deserved to lose, I just like to see consistent Reffing both ways. Going to a game 6 against the men cup host is a win in itself, but Leblanc's absence is a major factor.

Yes the Eagles are putting up a great effort despite losing their best defenseman and two of their best forwards for some games. Quebec has been getting better and better as the series goes on. I hope they play their best on Monday. It's a great series for hockey fans. No blow outs, just good close games.

We just can't beat this team without being 100% healthy.
It was a long shot when we were healthy ... No leblanc .. No Farrel or lazzy for 2 -3 games then subtract Martineau for a game...
I never said this team would go to the finals... All I wanted was a chance to compete with the players we had ....
Hopefully we come out flying in Quebec but win or lose , next year will be an exciting year to be an Eagles fan.

It's also great as a fan to have an impartial fan from the other side to weigh in on things. I've read this board for a while now and you have always been a poster who tells it like it is regardless of what team you speak of. You have been my source this entire series for the starting line ups lol Keep up the good work!

I don't know what game some of you watched because I found it was pretty even? The shots did favor Quebec but we missed the net with a lot of chances in close. Quebec made the most of the power play opportunities and we didn't. Svechnikov, Dubois, Bishop, Martineau were our best players which is promising since they are our future. I also thought Smith and Brunelle looked good (minus the bonehead roughing penalty he took).
Drives me fucking crazy when people come on here and preach that you can't talk about the refs cause they are always bad so get over it. In an entertaining playoff game like this all I want is for the refs to let them play. This game wasn't decided by the refs but my fuck MacCormick was bad. Hit to the head call on Boucher? Really? And the worst part is this joke of a league will probably add a game suspension to it. Whoever the short linesman was was equally brutal for both teams. Can someone explain to me the rule on the tripping/diving call? How come Quebec didn't have to send someone to serve the penalty for Fucale? Seems onesided that we lose one of our top pk in Bishop and their pp units stay intact.
In the end Fucale was solid. Thought after letting the first shot in that he would have a short night buthe settled in and shut the door on us. Sullivan was very good too but misplayed 4 or 5 dump ins before the one that cost us a goal. I assume he gets the call for game 6. Hopefully they can pull out a win Monday and force a game seven.

In reading the Post this morning, Dumont touched on the fact that their best players outplayed our best. I have to agree with him on that, our guys looked tired and did not play with the jump that we normally see. For the most part, I thought svechnekov,Farrell,Anderson and Hinds were almost invisible out there, but again you have to give Quebec credit for playing a solid road game. Also untimely and undisciplined penalties hurt us. The slashing penalty in the first period to Tower seemed to take away any momentum that we had.

I agree on the 20yo but imo Svechnikov was our best player.

I certainly didn't find Svechnikov invisible but he did mishandle and fight the puck quite often during the game. I would have loved to have seen a pass to Farrell on that late 2 on 1. Good chance he gets it back with half an empty net to shoot on. That may have been Tower's first shift of the game and subsequently last shift of the game when he took that penalty for slashing. Those types of penalties have hurt the Eagles all year long, unfortunately!

Frankly for Quebec to win their main focus should be making Svetchnikov look invisible. He obviosuly was not. But when you fight through that much attaention you can make mistakes. That is why Quebec won. Dumont said their best players were better than his - well it has become easier for Quebec to shut down the Eagles best player than for the Eagles to shut down the Quebec best players. This was inevitable when you have many more healthier best players on a team stacked to host the Memorial Cup.

Philippe Boucher is talking about bad reffing on his side this morning in the papier. Like I said, it goes both ways. You just see it more when it's on your side or when you lose, quite normal.
