Always nice to pull off an upset. Can't say it enough, but that was such an entertaining series.
On to Moncton. Zero expectations in this series. I know Moncton couldn't be happier that Halifax was seeded higher than Gatineau. They will be rested, whereas Halifax and their 4 scorers have played 7 games and 3-4 extra periods of hockey in the first round. All I can ask for, is for Halifax to stay composed and play their game. Brassard has to at least match Dubeau if not better him. And Meier/Moynihan/Ehlers have to out-perform Moncton's top guns.
I predict Halifax will run out of gas in this series. The first 3 games will be competitive. But Moncton will pull away after game 3. Moncton in 5.

So a Maritime team will make the semi finals for the 6th year in a row?
Now for the fun...how Halifax can get the transported spot into the Memorial Cup... Beat Moncton and hope Gatineau beats Rimouski and Quebec beat Charlotetown Gatineau would then face Quebec (Quebec wins) Halifax defeat B-C/VDO winner and voila! Moose get ticket to the Memorial Cup too
Moncton can also do this - by beating Halifax and hoping Quebec beats Charlottetown also requires Gatineau upsets Rimouski Then the semi would be Gatineau-Moncton and Quebec-VDO/BC
This whole scenario hinges on Gatineau continuing to play as the best team in the league as they have for last 25 games Moose have to do just what they are doing - Brassard good goaltending (like JS Giguere days) and eke out 1 goal wins....not impossible

We may also be seeing the coming out party for Max Fortier in this playoffs - finally - he has had many good chances and got goals. Having Gads/Max on a second line that produces is nice.

Well we beat Moncton the last game of the season so that should be a good indication we can beat them.

Id love to see garland take a puck in the teeth. Takes a mighty big man to wish harm on a teenager.

Here I was thinking we wouldn't be hearing any fans wishing harm on Garland since we aren't playing Charlottetown but guess I was wrong!

Id love to see garland take a puck in the teeth. I'll laugh if this happens to Ehlers. Oh, the karma.

Technically he's an adult. Technically, it's still a moronic post.

Regular Season Results:
21 2014-09-19 Moncton 3 Halifax 0 Final Scotiabank Centre 8433 160 2014-11-01 Moncton 2 Halifax 3 Final Scotiabank Centre 8001 186 2014-11-08 Halifax 4 Moncton 5 Final OT Moncton Coliseum 4641 230 2014-11-23 Moncton 3 Halifax 4 Final Scotiabank Centre 7549 331 2014-12-30 Halifax 3 Moncton 4 Final Moncton Coliseum 4988 449 2015-02-03 Halifax 3 Moncton 8 Final Moncton Coliseum 2883 498 2015-02-17 Halifax 2 Moncton 3 Final OT Moncton Coliseum 3540 597 2015-03-20 Halifax 0 Moncton 3 Final Moncton Coliseum 6258 593 2015-03-22* Moncton 2 Halifax 5 Final Scotiabank Centre 8780
So we went 3-4-2-0 against Moncton this year, the last win being against a team who had already locked up the division and rested many of their stars. That being said, 5 games were decided by only 1 goal. I think the games in this series will be close but I would expect Moncton to take it in 6 games as we run out of juice.
If the Moose are gonna upset Moncton, they have to stay disciplined and stay out of the box. Brassard was excellent during round 1 and we will need that to continue. Our top line is clicking but we need more secondary scoring...would love to see Gadoury step up and get some goals, he was pretty quiet in round 1. Getting some offence from our D would be a welcome surprise, although with our young D that is unlikely.
Should be an entertaining series! GO MOOSE GO!
