What a series this could be. The oldest rivalry in the Maritime Division. The last time these two teams met in the playoffs the Wildcats got swept but safe to say it will be severely different this time around.
No 2-3-2 I guess.
Game 1 | Friday, April 10th @ 7PM in Moncton Game 2 | Saturday, April 11th @ 7PM in Moncton Game 3 | Tuesday, April 14th @ 7PM in Halifax Game 4 | Wednesday, April 15th @ 7PM in Halifax Game 5* | Friday, April 17th @ 7PM in Moncton Game 6* | Sunday, April 19th @ 4PM in Halifax Game 7* | Tuesday, April 21st @ 7PM in Moncton
Moncton won the head to head battle this season 6-3.
In the last 5 seasons Moncton is 24-16-0-2 against the Mooseheads.
Dubeau always seems to bring his best against the Moose and we will need him to be at his best to shutdown their high powered Euro disney combo of Ehlers and Meier.
In the regular season Moncton had the better PP and the better PK.
In the playoffs it often comes down to 1 goal games. The Wildcats were 22-7-0-3 in these games while the Moose were 11-9-4-2

This year closely resembles 2006, when the Mooseheads upset Lewiston in the first round after playing their home games at the Forum. And like 2006, Moncton is sitting there waiting for us in the 2nd round. Try not to beat us too badly. We'll headbutt you if we get embarrassed.

It will come down to goaltending...Brassard vs Dubeau Ehlers/Meier vs Garland/Barbashev
Will be closer than many think because they know each other so well....good series

I think the key for cats will be the checking lines ability to shutdown Ehlers/Meier as best they can. Burke/Smith/Zilbert did a terrific job the last few games the moose played here in the second half. I also expect Barbashev to take his game to another level this series.

Guys like Johnson and Burke could give the Cats an edge also. The Cats are not known for their depth, but they have more than Halifax who is paper thin after their 5 top guns(Ehlers Meier Monyhan Gadoury Brassard). Moncton in 5.

In head to head meetings between the Cats and the Moose this season: Garland 2-14-16 in 8 games. Barbashev 6-7-13 in 6 games. Ehlers 1-9-10 in 7 games. Meier 3-4-7 in 8 games. Garland and Barbashev have outperformed them in the regular season but the playoffs is a whole other level. Let's hope they can keep it going! Should also be noted that Dubeau was 5-1-0 with a 1.75 GAA and .934 save % against the Moose this season.

I'd like my time back as I just finished researching all those stats as well but I will provide them anyway as I calculated points per game as well. I think credit does go as much to Dubeau as it does our checking line as he has been at his best vs the Moose and I expect that to continue. EHlers vs Moncton10 pts in 7 games 1.4 ppg vs Rest of the league 91 pts in 54 games 2.06 ppg Meier vs Moncton 7pts in 8 games - .875 ppg vs rest of league83pts in 53 games 1.5 ppg

His absence wasn't a healthy scratch but there was no mention of his exact injury....tight lipped on these things during the playoffs. I like Zilbert's speed on a checking line and can chip in offensively on occassion.
