I find it interesting that City Council had to have a special meeting about this situation - that makes me think that the city approved the game, and now they find themselves unable to deliver the venue. If the Cats were at fault, why would the city need to approve anything to move the venue? If they really are ponying up $125K, that makes me think someone on the city side messed up. Or the Cats knew they'd lose big playing Thursday night and booked Friday knowing the contract...City found out after the schedule was finalized... Doesn't make sense. The City wouldn't bail out the Cats with taxpayers money if the Cats had made the mistake.

According to the CBC, the Cats lease signed in 2013 guarantees them playoff ice with their choice of dates ...
/photo/1
Speed Sport contract was apparently renewed in 2014, and also guaranteed them the ice surface for this weekend - apparently no one realized the conflict with the Wildcats revised lease when they signed the Speed Sport renewal.

Funny how that clause did not apply in the first round.

Councillor Bourgeois is stating that George Leblanc signed the Speed Sport contract, and saying it's all the Mayor's fault... from CBC story comments (a place where sane people don't go...)

I got an email on the round two schedule well over a week ago as part of the Cats on line subscription and it clearly stated April 19th as the third home game(if required). So you mean to tell me NOBODY thought to coordinate any dates prior to a public release. I find that utter UNBELIEVABLE..... as somebody posted the Cats and/or city had it in their minds the vendor of Friday exhibition would move/cut short or whatever, their Friday time. Vendor said no f--- ng way. So here we are.
Anyway I have no intention heading to Freddy for a Cats game and I will be demanding a refund on that ticket as I prepaid my play off series.

Mayor signed this, so f--- what, even if he CCd to the Whitehouse and the Kremlin - that isn't the point. SOMEBODY should have picked up this glaring conflict prior the Wildcats Organization releasing the schedule in the public forum unless there is some palace intrigue at play - which isn't surprising. All this Bourgeois person wants is to score political points

No ... just lip service ... politically correct canned statements. I told him that accepting the $125,000 from the City was just another kick in the teeth to the fans as we'll be the ones that pay that bill on the other end ... our tax bill. I told him it will cost me $75 in gas to get there and back ... so I'll expect that deducted from my season ticket bill next year. I also mentioned that by the end of Friday we'll have played 10 playoff games ... and only 4 at home ... even though we are 2nd overall. If we get to game 6 ... that will be 7 road games ... and 4 at home. Pretty pathetic when you look at it that way.
