Reading this morning that Danny Flynn got fired in Buffalo, he might be a great fit here, lots of major junior experience, knows the league and has many American connections. Our organization probably not interested ($$$).Sometimes you only get what you pay for. Thoughts please.

Someone from Moncton could correct me but I'm 90% sure he still works for Moncton so... no?

Does that mean he wasn't given an out in his contract if an NHL team came calling or is he on a leave of absence? Should be interesting to see how this works out.

I would love Flynn in Cape Breton. Dumont should stay on as GM but step aside and let someone else coach the team. Few better candidates than Danny Flynn.

I don't think he is Moncton property at all. He was relieved of his duties as Coach ... then Shannon took over his role as Director of Player Personnel ... so he became a well paid scout. If he was jumping to the NHL, you can be sure that Irving would have been happy to release him from his big contract.

When Flynn was relieved of his duties as Coach, he said he was planning to step away from the bench anyway because he was having a hip problem and standing back there for 3 hrs at a time was wearing on the hip. He probably endured it another season to get back to the NHL. I doubt he'd come back to the Q to be a Coach, unless it was Coach/GM ... and then he'd probably only Coach on a short term until he could find a replacement he'd be happy with.

I think that Flynn could be connected to any number of Atlantic teams now that he is available.
Honestly, I could see Charlottetown making push with an attempt to bring him in to the fold.
If we had not made it through round 1, myself and many fans might thought strongly that Dwyer would have been given his walking papers. All things being equal, the first round victory probably solidified Dwyer's future behind the bench......
.... but the availability of a guy like Flynn might make ownership stop and consider cutting ties with Dwyer to bring Flynn in.
In terms of the coach or coach/GM scenario.... if they went looking for Flynn, I could see Sonier looking to take more of an upper management role and having Flynn do the coaching/GM work. Remember, Sonier initially got involved with the Islanders franchise as a potential investor. He was a spokesperson for a group looking to purchase the team. His bid wasn't the successful one though.... Sonier's group made no commitment to keep the team in Charlottetown (Sonier is a Summerside guy) and the winning bid was put together by a group with the ambition to keep the team in the provincial capital. But, the first move this group made was to go out and hire Sonier as the GM.
So, Sonier is a guy who would fit in upper management... if there's a need for this type of management in junior hockey... and if there would be room in the kitchen for both Sonier and Flynn to do the cooking.
It's not secret we'd like to make inroads with bringing American players to Charlottetown.... and we haven't been terribly successful with this to this point.
It will be very interesting to see where Flynn ends up.... he certainly could have opportunities to continue working in pro hockey too.

This organization will not pay the $ to get him. If they do I will gladly eat crow. Is there anyone that sleeps on moneybags around here that live for hockey willing to buy a majority stake in the team?

I think he would be excellent for a coaching job here. But I don't think our pockets are that deep. It's to bad .

I would love Flynn on the Islanders bench... I personally still feel Dwyer should be canned but I know its wishful thinking fr my point and his job I feeling is he's safe now.

Interesting, but I say there is way more of a chance that he goes to Charlottetown.
Dumont is still employed here.
