Game 1 goes tonight at the Coliseum. Still lots of tickets left. It doesn't look like it will be anywhere near as full as last game. It's too bad Patrick Roy isn't still around.
Remparts have had 6 days rest while the Wildcats have had 1. Hopefully this causes the Remparts to come out flat and rusty but I won't get my hopes up.
The Wildcats won both meetings between the two clubs this season with the most recent being a 3-2 win at the Coliseum on January 17th.
Fucale who started the playoffs as the backup as gained the number 1 job and rolled with it. He played good against the Islanders but looked very ordinary against the Screaming Eagles in round 1. This is a team that was down 2-0 in game 7 in round 1. They came very close to being eliminated so despite what their roster looks like on paper, they are not unbeatable.
Dubeau will need to be very sharp. The series very much depends on him standing on his head. Quebec has a lot more firepower than Halifax had and Halifax still managed to score a ton of goals so the Wildcats will also need to tighten up defensively.
Hoping for a good game.
Go Cats Go!

I expect the Cats to be more sharp having played Tuesday then the Remps getting stronger as the game goes on. To win the Cats need to capitalize and take a lead.
I predict 5-4 Quebec

Fucale not sharp? Grass is green. Sky is blue.

Fucale not sharp? Grass is green. Sky is blue. Yeah, it's not like he won a Memorial cup, WJHC gold and had a .929 save % last round vs PEI...

He was also benched in favor of a 17 year old to start these playoffs. He can be great... but he can be woefully inconsistent as well. For as much as Dubeau is discussed on here as being the biggest key to victory for the Cats (which is true), the Remparts will live and die by their goaltending almost as much.

Quebec has a better plan B. Booth would be starting on a lot of teams. Both guys have better stats than Dubeau in the playoffs.

Still, Quebec has not got this far based on goaltending (nor has Moncton). They actually got past round one in spite of it.

But...but...I read in another thread that Fucale is known as a "clutch" goalie!
Clearly someone on here is wearing his rose tinted Habs glasses when talking about their prized prospect...

The special teams numbers for both teams during the regular season are comparable.
Cats PP: 25.1% Cats PK: 79.7%
Que PP: 24.2% Que PK: 79.7%
The playoffs however are a different story. This could very well be the deciding factor.
Cats PP: 25.0% Cats PK: 67.4%
Que PP: 19.2% Que PK: 76.6%

I'm not watching, but I figured that may happen early on. Moncton will be sharper, but probably tire more as the game moves along and Quebec finds its timing again.
