Maybe you couldn't tell from your end of the ice but it seemed like a pretty obvious headshot to me. You can't let that go regardless of the score or situation. You're putting teenagers at risk if you start allowing that. How could it be a headshot, Tkachev is about 5'8"? It looked like a puck battle. From where i was sitting, Tkachev looked back at Malatesta? (believe it was him) and threw an elbow at his face.

For everyone complaining about how much ice time Barbashev and Garland get, IMO, it is simply Rumble trying to milk every last drop he can from his team. In an ideal world, they play a bit less, shifts are shorter, etc. But realistically, this team is nowhere near the final four with the players we have unless you have a coule of stars carrying you. How much better than us is Quebec 3-9 upfront? It isn't even close ... This team is simply not built to contend - as I said the other day, we are accidental contenders. Giving more ice time to guys who, bluntly, are not good enough to being playing top 9 on a team trying to get to the league final, would only make the situation worse - in all likelihood we would have been lucky to get through the first round. It is what it is - we are a two man offense, and will go as far as they can carry us - that has been our story all year - so better dance with the ones that brought us. This is not atom house where everyone gets to play ... whether your 4th line is rusty or not will not make much difference ... and a tired Garland or Barbashev is still significantly more dangerous than anyone else on our roster is fresh.

I must agree with many posters that Conor Garland, while a gifted player with great ice vision, will most likely never go much beyond this level. I watched him carefully during games that he played in our rink and starting with the warm-up it is apparent he is not a team player in any regard. In warm-up he does not participate in any team drills playing his own game and hanging near the bench, he joins sporadically in established 3 on 2 rush drills as a 4th player when the whim hits him but mostly stands out of the team preparation which strongly indicates he feels he is above the rest. His long shifts are selfish and belittling to the rest of the team and while some nights he has success it is not a formula for higher level "team" success.

I think garland will go beyond this level, he'll just have to change some parts of his game...guys like Richards Ryder Ribeiro Bernier etc had to change parts of their games to make the NHL. Garland has elite level hands and vision, size will hurt him, but there is ropom in the NHL for guys like him.

I really don't think Garland will ever make it to the nhl..He seems to have a bit of a attitude problem..I bet even his own team mates don't get along with him...I've only seen him play about 15 times this year but noticed that even that even when he is getting a rough ride from opposing players , they never seem to come to his aid...I bet he won't even be a Wildcats player next year.

How much do you want to bet on that?

He's an 18 year old kid, how many have an "attitude" when winning a scoring title in junior at that age? He'll definitely need to be more of a team player, but those things can be improved upon.

I don't know why I bother backing up my posts with evidence to you because you never do and you just try to speak against the Cats every chance you get but once again I'll cave into your trolling. I didn't realize Malatesta's chest was above his neck. Here's the split second before Tkachev makes contact with Malatesta's face.

It was body to body type contact, not targeting of the head in any way. How does that make me bias against anybody, I'm stating what I saw.

I think it fair to suggest we have gone beyond expectations for this season and have met our match in semi-final round and it ends tonight more than likely. We never were in contention for the cup but the positives certainly outweigh any negative attributes by a long shot as I see it for our season. Let's hope for similar if not better for 2015-16.

I think the most difficult part in repeating that in 2015-16 is that the division will likely go from a very weak one to a pretty strong one with teams like CB, PEI and SJ having young teams this year, a lot of their best players will be entering their prime. The Cats will be hard pressed to replace Dubeau, not that he was great but they don't really have a replacement in house, Tassi's loss will hurt on the PP but Malatesta can probably step up there, Burke, there are young guys that can replace him. Barbashev probably can't be replaced internally. I think with normal progression and pretty good drafting the Cats can be only slightly worse in 15-16, but the numbers won't look nearly as good with a much stronger division. Bat might also improve while Hal could be the lone opponent to get worse assuming Ehlers is gone.

just a note.....moncton will have played 11 games in 19 days after tonightthe last 9 games have only had max 1 day off in between....its very strange that the "conflict" at the pepsi ctr went away mysteriously after the schedule came out to jam 4 games in 6 nights after playing a 7 game series and finishing 1 day before the start and quebec had a week off!!!! didnt we finish second???should moncton have been able to dictate the schedule? and on a ref note the slew foot at the blueline was right infront of the ref and you could see the grimace on his face when Erne scored? Mills and Hopkins did a pretty good job but a blatant no call on that play should have them removed from doing games for rest of playoffs it did effect the outcome!

Nobody dictates the schedule, the teams try and work something out and if there is an impasse, the league gets involved. The schedule was announced about an hour after the WC beat Halifax so there couldn't be much resistance from the head honchos. Bottom line, Quebec got rewarded for knocking off PEI in 4 and Cats got punished for going to 7 vs Halifax....that's the way it works. Do you think TB or Detroit will get a week off to rest once Wednesday's game is done? I doubt it, round 2 for them will probably start Friday or Saturday.
