thechronicleherald.ca/sports/1290858-cochrane-nbl-sydney-talk-about-franchiseI realize it's kind of off topic, but I'm wondering what the response is to this from the local posters. Personally after watching how much of a gong show the league final situation was and the fact that the person running the team is the son of the Halifax owner I can't even believe Sydney of all places is the place for a team in that league. I definitely will not support it, mainly based on how bush league the entire league has been since setting up in Halifax. I really can't believe there's enough support here for a team and that like the last pro basketball attempt it's dead within 2 years.

I just don't think there would be enough of a solid fan base to provide sufficient revenue. Without taking from the Eagles fan base, the population I wouldn't think is big enough to draw that many more fans with enough disposable income to attend.

After the end of year fiasco involving Halifax and Andre Livingston I think it would be very foolish to even consider such a team fronted by his son. The senior Livingston basically basically sold out his coaches and players when he was the person who initiated the unauthorized morning trip to the gym that led to all the trouble; brawl, threats and forfeit. I find it hard to believe that Halifax will be able to field a team next year considering Livingston's well earned reputation.

I doubt basketball would work here even without the circus that is the NBL.
Somebody may be foolish enough to try it but it would not be a smart business decision.
I know CBU does decent as does the Coal Bowl but I do not see this working.

I was a season ticket holder of the Breakers and have been a fan of UCCB/CBU Capers basketball for almost 25 years so I like basketball. However, I doubt that I will go to too many games just because I have a lot on my sports fan plate as it is. I will go to some games though.
As with many of you, I am skeptical that it will work but I do wish them well. The team has some local heavyweights from a business standpoint which is one plus in their corner.

But you also know QMJHL regular season hockey sucks on most nights. NBL is a better product to watch. QMJHL better operated though. It is worth giving it at least one shot, and I hope it works out. Having something like this in the community is good for a community.

Honestly can say that I'm quite excited for this. Something else to do here in Cape Breton and that's fine with me. Will enjoy the team here and will probably get season tickets depending on price obviously.
