Marty Kingston will step behind the mike to do the play-by-play this year. It will be a LOT better than this year.

As somebody who has to listen to Moncton play by play for road games occasionally, thank goodness.

This is good news Marty is a pretty good Play by play guy, also anyone would be better than that Steve Young guy they had a couple years ago he had to be the worst ever.

Good hire. He should be much better than anyone else they've had in a LONG time.

Good hire. He should be much better than anyone else they've had in a LONG time. I always liked Gerry Green ... thought he always made the broadcast interesting. The difficulty in all of this is trying to find a qualified person that can travel with the team. Not easy to find somebody really good with that restriction. But if the Q changed their approach and required each team to provide a French and an English broadcast, then nobody would have to travel with the team. All fans would have a choice to follow their team on road games in whichever language they wanted. Much cheaper to have two people work 34 games (plus) than have one guy work 68, travel, plus travel related expenses.

The Sea Dogs have been doing it this way for some time now. Hire a PBP that can perform other duties for your team thus making it a full time job.

I believe that Marty will be a great addition. I still remember listen to him do the AHL games. Do we know if it is the same radio station or have the signed a deal with another one?

Hire a PBP that can perform other duties for your team thus making it a full time job. I think that approach can certainly be ideal. But it still requires the right person. The person can handle all media releases, promo work, etc, but not everybody is suited for those jobs. A good PBP guy might be great on the air, but not so good at writing releases and putting together advertising promos, or vice versa. What kind of other jobs do you see that person taking on, that would allow the position to be a fulltime job ? And what kind of pay do you foresee ? On another note, who will be the house announcer when Marty is calling the home games ?

Probably that radio announcer type who adds "errr" to words and sentence structure. Phonetics/pronunciation with this guy is an embarrassment.

I will be happy if when I am driving on game nights I actually know what is happening in the game.
"Garland..in the corner, bumped but he keeps possession, passes to Barbashev who shoots! Big save by Lafrancois rebound to Garland and that beats Dubeau and the Cats are down one!"
..........What?...........How did the puck go from the opposition end to a snipe past the Cats goalie?
