Without trades, locks should be: Fortin(20) Sweeney/Johnston(20) Malatesta(19) Glassl(18) Holwell(18) Klebankyj(19) Johnson(20) Garland(19) Smith(19) Askew(18) Leger(18) Cormier(18) Weirderer(19) Murphy(17) Tibbo(19) Bower(18) Crossman(16) R Klima(18)...based on paper articles Klima(18)...based on paper articles With no trade(or waiving veterans), t leaves about...1 spot in nets, 2 spots on D and 2 spots up front. Contenders? G-Rioux Dupre Querry? Dixon D-Cormier Dominie Tesink Aspirot Lavoie Bornstein Gignac etc F-Cyr Meisenheimer Corson MacEwen Ramimn Leischman Destefani? D'arnall Yeah Corson's on the team as well. no way he doesn't make it ( unless he's traded) Shannon's got a few good surprises in camp and I agree he's gotta make some room. it would be ashame to waste a 17 year old we can develop so a 19 or 4thline 18 year old takes his ice time.

I don't see Tibbo as a lock. He doesn't bring enough at 19 to take a spot away from a guy like Cyr/Corson. I think you'd have to put MacEwan ahead of Tibbo also.

I half think they will go with the older guys until Christmas. Establish some trade value in them. I think you take Lavoie and Aspirot as your 6/7 guys.

Pretty sure that's a mistake. Vachon left voluntarily earlier in the week and I believe MacArthur was just cut tonight. Like you said no real surprises with the first round of cuts. Archibald might be considered a bit of a disappointment after playing Junior A last year as a 16 YO. He really showed nothing in the scrimmages last week. Three players of note that are still in camp and haven't played a game yet - DeStefani, Meisenheimer and Ramin. As for today's game, pretty hard to judge much based on the incredibly lackluster line-up that Halifax iced. Bornstein, Lavoie and Aspirot all looked pretty good which is encouraging for the future. Bornstein is really fun to watch, but as Billy mentioned he's quite high risk in his style of play. Klimas looked good up front and created lots of chances. Corson was involved in the action a lot, just like we saw in the scrimmages last week. None of the vets really jumped out at me, but I'm not going to read into that too much at this point. D'Arnall continues to be one of the surprises of camp. Not much in the way of offence, but very solid in all other aspects of his game. I'd be shocked if D'arnall sticks. No one has said they think D'Arnall will stick. His play is just impressive for a 14th round draft pick. He was the second to last selection in June. It's promising for the seasons to come.

Hugo Talbot-Tassi traded to Drummondville for a 12th rounder.

Dupre deserves the backup role. Excellent camp so far and a solid last year too.

Corson still looks horribly thin, with the style he plays it will be hard against veterans, we saw that last year. He got pounded and eventually got hurt.We did? He saw ice time in a grand total of one Q game against veterans last year and didn't get "pounded" or hurt. I personally have no idea how exactly he got hurt in midget last year. Did you follow him back to Montreal and watch all his games?

What are the odds that they do what SJ did last year by starting the year with 3 goalies. Start with Fortin, Dupré and Mann-Dixon. Both goalies battling for the back up roll have their positives and weaknesses. Mann-Dixon is very good technically. His only downside is a huge one because he is such a small goalie. Dupré finds a way to keep the puck out of the net. He does find himself out of position at some points though. My biggest problem with Dupré is his conditioning. Doesn't seem to be in the best shape.

I was obviously referring to preseason since he didn't play any in the regular season.(dressed for a game but never got on) He played 4 exhibitions and got hurt in one of them and banged up pretty good in another. He wasn't doing bad against the rookies but not so good vs veterans later on.

I just saw the cuts by Halifax, I guess the GM wasn't too happy, it looks like they cut most of yesterday's lineup!

I don't see Tibbo as a lock. He doesn't bring enough at 19 to take a spot away from a guy like Cyr/Corson. I think you'd have to put MacEwan ahead of Tibbo also. I agree, but I would have tried to trade him. maybe get a solid pick for him from a contender.

Guys like Tibbo are valuable to every team but every team has a half dozen on their protected list. Good character guys that play a role ... work their tails off ... maybe kill penalties ... but in the end provide little offense and lose their spot to a younger guy with higher potential. He will serve us best this year as a callup from MHL when we get into injuries.

I was obviously referring to preseason since he didn't play any in the regular season.(dressed for a game but never got on) . Check your facts bud. He dressed for 2 games. In one game he didn't get any ice time but in the other he definitely did since he registered 2 shots, 1 hit and got a roughing penalty.
