I figured since there doesn't seem to be any discussion yet about this, we might as well start up a new thread.
Who went to the game tonight and what did you think?
Couple thoughts really quick :
I thought Dachyshyn was great. He does not at all look like a rookie, big body, skates really well, especially for his frame. His goal was impressive, protected the puck and just threw it right over the pad, picture-perfect power forward goal.
Cooper Jones was a mess. I've never seen a defenseman play below the hash marks so much in my entire life. He pinched on almost every shift, creating so many scoring chances for the green team. He was never in position. He did a terrible job clearing the front of the net, and it was pure luck that he wasn't out there for 3 or 4 goals against, because green hit several posts off of Jones' turnovers or mistakes. He's sloppy.
Hunter and Argento both looked quite good. Hunter seems to be shooting right now?
Novak has great finish, he got 2 chances and buried them both.

Yea the blue-line collision was a bit dangerous, a bit of a suicide pass from Bishop to Tardif.
Speaking of which, I thought Joel Bishop was a pleasant surprise, he was really solid on both sides of the puck, except for the previously mentioned suicide pass. Later on he seemed to get more comfortable and actually carry the puck a bit more, which was good to see.

A few of my observations included:
Dachyshyn - Like what I saw, fast skater with a big reach who keeps his motor going and can create with his speed. Will be a good Q player if he can fill out and utilize his size.
Novak - Two goals on nice, quick releases, not a bad skater either. Very intrigued by his late growth spurt.
Vanier- IMO one of the best players on the ice, nice finish on his goal and a few craft plays offensively.
Charlebois - Big and smart, seems quite polished for a 16 year old.
Disappointed in Crossley and Fortier in this game. Flower was solid but Durandeau and Putintsev were a bit underwhelming. Both seem to lack explosiveness but it is only early.

I think it will just take a bit for Durandeau and Putintsev to find their legs, it's an adjustment for both, obviously.
Putintsev is very powerful skater, but he needs to backcheck, and he needs to get used to the size of this league. We have a pretty big group overall this year at camp... in other words I'm not that worried about it haha.

I thought it was Tardif who got hit, I'm fairly certain it couldn't be Farrel as I think he was on team green. Regardless, all I have to go on is my memory and trying to figure out who was involved afterwards, so I could very well be wrong.

Hows the 20 year olds looking? I have said it before, I hope they keep Bent Vuic and D.Moyinhan. Brassard and Danny Moynihan are 2 for sure. I wouldn't be shocked if they started the season with 2 20 year olds, honestly. Competition up front is fierce. Hard to tell who has the edge at the moment. Today's game was MUCH better. Goaltenders were fantastic and there was much more flow, everyone had their legs under them. Jones was much, much better today. He should have had a goal or two but couldn't seem to get the puck off the ice. Novak I thought was better than yesterday. While he's not an overly great skater, he's such a natural goal scorer, he knows where to be to get the puck on his stick, and he gets the puck off his stick in a hurry. He had 4 or 5 really good chances today. He's not the type of guy who will get the puck on his stick than get stick checked because he took too long to make a decision, he get's the puck in a scoring position and it's off his stick in a half a second. I can't see Novak not making this team. He's a real good find. Dachyshyn should also make this team. He's been the best forward on the ice these first two games. He's big, but he skates like a guy half his size. Looks like a veteran out there, and he's only 17. There's a few other forwards I'd like to see get an extended look. Vanier, Blain-Dupuis, Farrel, Tardif have all stood out in their own ways.
