Off to a questionable start IMO - new owners are hiring Levingston to run operations ... Should have looked to distance themselves from the fiasco that the Rainmen turned into.

I wouldn't hire Levingston to run a lemonade stand after that fiasco from the first incarnation.

I just read the article that explained things in more detail. I agree 100% that he shouldn't be a part of things and there shouldn't be any ties to that organization. I'd probably give the franchise another shot... meaning I'll attend 1-2 games this season. But it's going to be very, very difficult to sell season tickets.

I would really like to support them, especially all these new owners who had nothing to do with the Rainmen. It would be a shame for this group to pay for the previous mistakes of the Rainmen management. I am not a huge basketball fan, but would consider getting season tickets if the prices are good. Don Mills the head guy for this new group was on 95.7 with Rick Howe today and he said the Rainmen had $0 for advertising last year. I think this new group will bombard everyone with ads and commercials and different forms of advertising. That should make a huge difference. I think it is a bad idea to hire Levingstone, but as late as it is in the game for them to get this thing rolling, maybe they need his connections to get going. They also said they are going to come up with the nickname etc. I was hoping to throw a few names out there. Lets hope it is something catchy.

That may be a reason to keep Levingston around; maybe once they get established and gain credibility, they can go in a different direction. Levingston did re-start pro basketball in Halifax, I give him credit for that, but it's time that a different management team pick up the pieces from the last game debacle and take the franchise into a different direction. I hope they can make a go of it. Getting a team in Sydney would be a boost.

New NBL team in Halifax to be called the Halifax Hurricanes. Saw on Twitter that the Halifax Central Jr. High teams are called the Hurricanes, and there are Ringette and Lacrosse teams in Halifax called the Hurricanes as well. I don't mind the logo, but they could've come up with something a little more unique for the name. Seems like a bit of a slap in the face to sports teams already rooted in Halifax.

Wow they love their "weather" based naming conventions don't they. WINDjammers, RAINmen, Hurricanes. Another sports venture in Halifax doomed to fail. When will they learn. Bringing Livingston back pretty much sealed this team's fate already.

Hard to create an atmosphere in a 10K seat arena with a thousand people. I really think the forum would be much better suited (with renovation to concessions) or even dartmouth sportsplex. Somewhere that fans won't be so sparatic and they are the main attraction for said venue.

They said previously that the league required a venue like the Metro Centre to play in and they wouldn't approve anything else. I guess they are trying to get the feel of a bigger scale league or for growth into a venue like the Metro Centre(yes I know...Scotiabank Place arghh). They also mentioned about blocking off the upper bowl when needed for smaller crowds. I don't like the logo or name. Thought they would come up with something more unique to Halifax. I will give them a try though.

The region could really use a Hershey Centre (Mississauga) clone, with a 5000 seat main arena (which would be plenty for the Hurrijammers, plus AUS hockey and the odd QMJHL scheduling conflict) and three community pads. Makes too much sense to me, but not if we're still paying to maintain the Forum.

I agree, but I don't believe the 4pad they were planning had a 5000 seat main ink, and one of the ice surfaces was going to be DND exclusive.
