Obvious boil over from Wednesday. I do NOT wish injuries on any player from any team but you can't play the way garland plays and not expect guys to run at you. Hell of a hockey player, just needs to stop the extra stuff after the whistle. Almost seems like a Marchand type guy. But anyways, hopefully he's okay and there goes the slim chance of him accepting a trade to us at Christmas.... Just being small and the defending mvp and scoring champ puts the target on your back. He gets most of his attention because he embarasses his opponents ... water bugging around them. If he was 6'2 most players wouldn't be running him ... but because he is small they don't fear repercussions. If he was to shut his yap ... nothing would change. He'd still get all of that attention.

Fully agree with CatsDog when he says get rid of Dumont, I've been saying that from Day 1,this guy is a disaster as a coach. There is more to coaching than sending the kids over the boards and he has none of those attributes, communicating, mentoring, teaching, having a positive impact. This team will go nowhere with him behind the bench. As far as Connor Garland is concerned, I respect the kids hockey skills an ability, he is an excellent hockey player, but he needs to dump the hotdogging and whining. He got a penalty last night that was pretty obvious to everyone in the rink and he whined all the way to the penaty box.Oh, and by the way, the little altercation he had with Martineau, he initiated that.Anyway, I hope the kid is not hurt.

I think you have blinders on. It's his antics that makes him a target. Yes, teams will try to shut down a good player, but within the game. I am sure everybody on the Cape Breton team saw the video of Garland trying to clobber a players jewels while being restrained by the refs. It's sneaky things like that, the cheapshots behind the back and after the whistle that makes him a target. I was wondering how long it was going to be before he got injured. Didn't take too long this year. If he doesn't smarten up his career will be shortened. And that would be a shame for a player with that potential.

Fully agree, Garland needs to put his antics aside or he is going to get seriously hurt.Nobody respects or likes a player who hotdogs, regardless of his physical stature.Unfortunate because he is a good hockey player.

I found that at the game in Sydney, he was constantly running his mouth but would stand behind his teammates or stay a good distance away. I noticed at one point one of the referees went to him and have him a blast

How do you still not understand that you're saying you never gave Dumont a chance? You're just holding onto some nonsensical bias against him from before you knew his full name.

So Rumble wants the Brady treatment for Garland? Garland got hurt by his own actions. You take those risks when you drop the gloves so his injury is just as much his fault as it is the other guy. As for no teammates jumping in it kinda gives you an idea of what his team thinks about him.

Looking at the video lalancette has in that article.. if the linesmen move the helmet then garland may not be hurt.. No don't think so ... don't think the helmet mattered. He hit his head on the ice with Martineau landing on his chest at impact. I don't have an issue with this ... Garland started the fight ... took the risk ... easy to get hurt. But the other hits were brutal ... Svechnikov's looked to be on purpose and may come with a big suspension. It should have actually been called a match. The missed call on the Malatesta hit (worthy of a minor only ... but was from behind) lead to a fight. Refs lost control of the game.

Good thing there's a concussion protocol so in a situation like this, a player that hits his head on the ice doesn't return to the game and open himself up to further serious long term injuries.
Oh, what's that? They put him back in the game. Smart.

Dumont and Rumble suspended 1 game each; teams fined $2,000. Martineau is suspended until further notice.

"Even Garland was involved in the fighting as he tangled with Phélix Martineau in a late-game tussle. However, the Colesium crowd hushed when he left the game after hitting his head on the ice. He did return and was apparently OK." that's what I get for trusting the CB post, or you're wrong? Still not sure.
