Cadorette has not been playing much in the ECHL so far and got pulled 10 minutes into his first start. IF the Cats plan to contend and IF he comes back, they should definitely be inquiring. They'll have to pay a price, but he might be a bit cheaper than Bilia/Montembault where he's 20 and also just adding another goalie to the market should bring the price down a bit.
For now I hope they're scouring the free agent market to find something. Having a 20 year old goalie in the mix and ranking second last in team save percentage is not good to put it mildly.

I don't expect them to throw anybody under the bus in the media ... but I think that was a bald faced lie. It would be better not to say anything. I think we should trade for Bilia ... dump Fortin ... and trade for Danny Moynihan. We'll score 8 goals a game and rely heavily on our goaltender to win it all. Who cares about defense when you can score 8 a game.

Trading those first round picks would be like losing an arm given the lack of them over the last few years. I can't see Shannon giving them up.

The trade of the first was supposedly made to get a young first round draft pick from the previous year though as I remember (Askew)

Yup ... traded several 1st that were brought in prior deals to ultimately settle on a 2nd to draft Crossman.

Don't forget the impact that FBJ had. Losing him was a huge blow and goaltending quality hasn't been the same since. He could work his magic with guys like Owen, Sniderman, Lavigne and turn those OHL castoff guys into quality starters. There's a reason the guy is in the NHL.

Trading the 19th pick for the 21st pick and moving two other picks to 2015 from 2016 seems like a fair deal to me. Especially if you know your first pick is still going to be there. That's not really trading away your future for additional resources now.

I didn't suggest it was ... just confirming that we traded our first ... and traded what we got for that 1st ... to ultimately settle into the spot we could get Cyr (originally thought it was Crossman). But we moved down from 17th to 19th (deal with Chic), then 19th to 21st + 29th (deal with Shaw) ... then dealt 21st for a 1st 2016 (deal with Vic) ... and used the 29th pick on Cyr. Obviously I am summarizing those deals as there was a lot more picks going back and forth ... but this just shows how we went from picking 17th to 29th.

Obviously I am summarizing those deals as there was a lot more picks going back and forth ... but this just shows how we went from picking 17th to 29th. I don't think this is a coincidence...the last 1st round pick that played for the WC for an extended period(not traded at 16 or 17) was Brandon Gormley, drafted in 2008. Since the 2010 run, the Cats have won 2 playoff rounds(both last year coming out of a weak division) in 5 years...I don't think that's a coincidence. We can exclude 2015 since they moved around to get more picks, but in general the main issue the last 4-5 years have been the drafting and trading away of picks. It's great to have good Euros, FA's and late round "NCAA" kids reporting, but the meat and potatoes of a winner in the Q is getting impact players early and other solid contributors in the top 5-6 rounds of the draft. That's what the Cats have struggled at since 2008. 1st rounders(2009-2015) still with the team...none 2nd to 6th rounders that had strong careers(2009-2013)...Melindy Saulnier and Saulnier(2009). Penny(2010). Johnston(2011). Gagne had a good career but not with WC, Johnson & Garland(2012). Holwell Bower and Smith are all solid depth players(2013). 2014 and 2015 the jury is still out. Corson will struggle to be anything close to 2nd rd value. Murphy looks like a good pick. McInnis and RJ Murphy are no shows. Tesink and Dupre the jury is out. This year has some promise but O'Leary didn't show and Grant, Waite did not stay.

Just noting that Shawinigan will probably be shopping for a #1 goaltender also ... they have two rookies on their roster ... plus their apparent #1 Antoine Samuel who is at 3.23 GAA and 0.883 Sv%. They are a contender ... while our identity is not yet clear (contender or pretender or seller). I can't see them going into the playoffs with a clear shot at a title with mediocre goaltending.

Speaking of 20 year old goalies in the OHL, in truly Billy fashion, I'm going point out that Jack Flinn is playing tremendously in the OHL this season. I know we traded him for Barbashev(I believe) but couldn't we have gotten him off waivers after that?
