I know it's approaching, but when does it officially start ? and who's on the trading block ? I can't find the exact date but it's usually 4-7 days before Christmas and ends about a week after new year's. My guess would be Dec 19th to January 5th. If you are talking about the Cats trading block...it's a big mystery. They have 3 options... 1-sell a couple of big guns and build for the future(unlikely) 2-Tweak a few pieces, 2-3 players coming and 2-3 players going(like last year) 3-buy big and add a top notch goalie and 1st pair d-man plus 2-3 minor pieces. I would prefer they did #1 or #3 but I expect #2.

Last group of games before the Christmas break are on December 18 ... so either the 18th or 19th.
Nobody is on the trading block yet ... we have another month to decide if we are a contender or pretender or seller. What we do in November and the first two weeks of December will probably decide that.
Players I would not be surprised to see get moved out ... Leger, Cyr, Crossman, MacEwan.
Players that could be traded if somebody paid the right price ... Leger, Garland, Sweeney, Johnson
Players that cannot be traded ... Glassl and Weiderer

If we trade Leger, Crossman and Cyr, what's left to rebuild with. I strongly beleived they were the team's future.

One thing complicating things is the Cats have the oldest roster in the Q. If they don't "go for it" I assume they would at least try and get younger at the bottom of the lineup.

Perhaps not ... but if we are going for it and want to make a deal for a highly rated veteran Dman/Goalie/Forward ... they will be asking for him and Cyr.

I see a replay of 2012. They sold the farm and ended up with a bunch of donkeys.

I see a replay of 2012. They sold the farm and ended up with a bunch of donkeys. Didn't really sell the farm. They traded Gormley and got - Racine, Veilleux and Dubeau (definitely not a donkey) They traded Daoust and Cole MacMillan for a pick They also traded Milan for Danick Emond and Jacob Sweeney. I believe you are wayyyyyyyyy off base.

I see a replay of 2012. They sold the farm and ended up with a bunch of donkeys. I am hoping we do minimal ... maybe add a low to no cost goaltending option ... and add a reliable 20 YO (like a Burke) with Fortin vacating. We may see a few players move out for picks if the interest is there. If good offers are there for Sweeney ... you take it. An offer for Garland would have to be 4 top assets ... plus more if he returns as a 20. I don't see us rolling the dice to go for it.

For what it's worth I've heard we have several guys unhappy with the lack of playing time this year.. I wouldn't be surprised to see guys shipped out including leger, Crossman, corson, cormier..... not all of them will go but I think we have some unhappy families at this point because in order to get players here we over promised and now we are under delivering. If this is indeed true ( again just rumors) this could play a hand in what we do.... do we keep the core of 17's and 18's we have now and unload some higer end guys and do an addition through substraction and restock with picks and young guys or do we load up and trade some young guys so we get our upgrades and the young guys get traded to a place where they can develop. I'm certainly no GM and I haven't been following the team much this season, but this can't be good for attracting players when we constantly have guys sitting in the stands and keep finding older players to ice a team every night... every player wants to get drafted but all our players only get invites as FA's at 19 20 cause that's when they seem to stick a lineup spot.
anyways, it will be interesting to see how things shake down.....

Well the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals just added former Wildcat Nic Riopel to their roster meaning they now have three goalies. Their current backup is 20 year old Philippe Cadorette who has only played 21 minutes for them and has a GAA of 11.26 and a .750 save %. It looks like he could be returned to the Q where he's been solid the last couple years and he could be a potential trade target for Moncton. A nice case of a former Wildcat helping out his old team?

I doubt he'd come cheap. I think you'll see Shaw make a move for Bilia of Chic ... and he'll be costly. I can't see us going big for a goaltender.
