If the Wildcats did get another #1 goalie, would there be any market for Fortin? Even if they got a mid to late pick for him it would be better than releasing him for nothing.

Who would want a mediocre 20 yo goaltender ? The only way he gets traded is if the team we get a goaltender from needs somebody as a throw in to finish the year.

That is something along the lines what I was thinking, or maybe a team that sells off players and has an open spot for a 20 to finish the season with a vet goalie.

I would sell big at Xmas. We don't have the goal tending or defence for a run.

Goal tending and defense issues abound I agree with this also, but our biggest problem is that Irving feels we have a go for it team every year, the hockey people need to tell him that you do need to go through rebuilds from time to time.

I don't think it's that Irving wants to "go for it" it's that he doesn't want a rebuilding year(or years). After 2010, they did not really do a full rebuild and even last year, they didn't really "go for it" or rebuild, they moved around the deck chairs. Tassi, Burke, Beaton Zilbert came in and Lalonde, Tkachev and Olivier left.

So Guay is gone and Shannon is saying they want to strengthen the defence corps and have a number of irons in the fire. Trade, free agent, another league? A tweak or a larger move?

Do we have any prospects in the ECHL? The French board mentioned someone might come from there. No idea if it is true or not.

Cadorette is out with a broken finger and that's why Norfolk brought in Riopel. So that rumour can be put to rest for the time being, although I still won't be surprised to see him back in the Q at some point.
