Lost the first one, but the boys played well. Dupré was struggling a bit, but that is expected from a young goalie. Garland is fun to watch, very entertaining. I thought Leger had a good game also, he was very physical and seemed to find his confidence again. It's a shame we don't have space for this kid, I strongly believe if he had ice time he would be a very solid dangerous player. Some 19 year olds arn't even noticeable on the ice. We need to win the next 2 !!!

We need to win the next 2 !!! I thought they played poorly for 2 periods ... only when we changed the goaltender did they seem to wake up. We had no forecheck going for 2 periods. With our injuries of late, Leger has been given lots of ice time with lots of different linemates. I think he is getting his chance. Last night I did notice that he was working very hard all game. But when he has the puck he isn't looking for options ... he seems to try to do it all by himself and just go for the shot. He has a strong shot so maybe he has been told to do that. I don't fault Dupre but he did play poorly. Whether you are a rookie or a veteran, you have to make some saves to give the team confidence. If we are going with him the rest of the way then we aren't a contender ... he seems to follow a strong start up with a poor start and needs to show more consistency. And just to put that loss in perspective ... today we are the top offensive team in the Q (GF). BBA is 2nd last in GF ... about 50 goals less than us in 27 games. I doubt BBA has scored 6 goals in many games this year. I am really hoping that we are not buyers this year as we need too much to be legit contenders. I'd like to keep both of our 1sts and use them at the draft.

Malatesta is responsible for 2 goals. Too soft defensively.
Dupre allowed 2 weak goals.
Smith-Bower-Johnson invisible all night long.
solid game for Klima, Klima, Wiederer and Garland.

We need to win the next 2 !!! I spoke to somebody who was at the game and I guess Dupre really struggled, let in 2 maybe 3 really soft ones. Hopefully it doesn't become a habit, unless they sell, the WC will definitely need to add in nets. Malatesta and Klebanskyj apparentaly also had a rough night(-3), I think the team expect too much out of those two playing as a 2nd pair. Another big need if they are not selling...

Plus possibly another top 4 depending on how Kosack plays out...

Not a good way to start the trip with the 2 tougher games coming Friday and especially Saturday on short rest.
One benefit of the Sweeney injury is Tesink getting lots of playing time. I think he's made huge strides over the past month. His biggest issue to me always looked like confidence. He's showing a lot more confidence and poise with the puck lately.
Kosack looked good last night too, funny enough he actually does remind me quite a bit like Talbot-Tassi last season, even skates like him.
Bit of an unfortanute play on the 6th blainville goal where we had a wide open man in the slot and the pass just missed him causing the 2 on 0 , had the pass connected the goaltender looked way out of position and the Cats could have tied it. Giving up a shorty 2 on 0 is never good though.

Kosack has looked very good since I first saw him on his first game. At this point it's still a small sample size. Some FA look good early and fade badly. Good news is there are another 10-12 games before the trade deadline.

Really poor loss last night. No excuse at all for giving up six goals against that team.
I generally don't like to read much into one game of a 68-game season, but this one stands out. Realistically the team hasn't played consistently well for a few weeks now anyway. Rest of the trip should be interesting. Victoriaville hasn't played well at home all season and Shawinigan has been struggling lately.
Blainville announcer mentioned a couple times that he heard the Cats will be pushing hard to acquire a goaltender when the trade period opens. Take that for whatever it's worth.

Is there a goalie we could acquire from Blainville ?

Is there a goalie we could acquire from Blainville ? Sure ... but would we be much further ahead after spending the assets ?

Dupre was injured towards the end of the game against Victo. Certainly makes the goaltending situation even more interesting than it already was.
