You get a sense from Bob MacKenzie that Pierre Luc Dubois is not a slam dunk to start the Season with Columbus .

You get a sense from Bob MacKenzie that Pierre Luc Dubois is not a slam dunk to start the Season with Columbus . Most opinions from Columbus fans on HFBoard have PLD at about a 10% chance to make the team, hes played just okay in preseason, no points but getting a bit better as the games go on. I definitely think he's going to be back with us but we'll see in bit.

He barely gets mentioned by MacKenzie when he talks about all the Youngsters who may make the Jump to The Show this Year .........not a ringing endorsement by any means .......I still think he gets a Regular Season Look but not beyond the Ten Games if he is not standing out in Exhibition Games , it will be tough to amp it up several notches when the Games start to count .

He's physically ready, like Galchenyuk (also a 3rd overall pick), and he stuck as an 18 year old. That was the issue with other 3rd overall picks, including Drouin and Huberdeau. Part of me wants him back, because of his value at the deadline and we get 3 months of having the best player in the league. But more of me would like to see him stick and be successful. That Gare Joyce article on Sportsnet where he basically said that PLD's 1st overall ranking for NA skaters was basically a Central Scouting conspiracy still makes me angry.

I think with 18 year olds, unless they knock your socks off it's always smart to send them back. I feel the same for Sergachev of the Habs who has looked good so far.
Being 18 in the NHL, you can often do more harm than good, NHL history is littered with stories of guys that came up at that age and their career went sideways. It's a lot for a kid that age to handle.
You see McDavid, but he was too good for junior, plus he is a mature kid.
Eichel and Matthews are basically 19 year olds making the jump(late birthdays).

good news for the Eagles, there's probably a 95% chance he's back with the Eagles now.
Too tentative in his first pro camp

Would be great to see him back, but it would be nice to get a ransom for him at Christmas

We need to remember that Dubois is a very young 18,his birthday was on draft day. if his birthday had been 3 weeks later, he would not have been eligible until next year.

You're right, I meant 3 months, not 3 weeks.
