Without making a move with a vet we could have 3: 9th for Bowers Our own Chicoutimi's for Ranger The condition on Ranger is at the Eagles choosing: Should Ranger not play in the Q this season, the Screaming Eagles will receive either a first-round pick in 2016 or 2017, or two second-round picks in 2016 from the Sagueneens. Cape Breton will activate one of those options following the season if Ranger doesn’t come back. Before any compensation picks are added Chicoutimi picks 9th in round 1 and has 4 2nd rounders between picks 8 and 16 of round 2. Best option would be the 2016 1st, Chicoutimi will be a much improved team next year so their pick will be a late first. Agreed. The 2 2nds isn't a bad option either.

Fully agree that we should take Chicoutimi's 1st rounder this year, which would have us picking at 9th and 12th plus whatever they decide to do with bowers, get him to report, trade his rights or take the compensation pick. If the Eagles take the compensation pick, looks like we would be picking 9th, 10th and 12th. Lots of options there, use the picks or trade one or two for impact players. I'm sure there a number of teams in the League who don't have a 1st rounder or who have a low 1st rounder and would like to move up. Could be interesting.

Well, as for the topic of the thread, I see the OA situation next year being
Levielle and Fiore for sure, and one of Carozza or McIntyre.
As for the rebuild/retool, I think CB should be fine in terms of the midget draft. You're going into next year with a 1st round pick, Bowers in your back pocket, and probably the most valuable asset in the league in Dubois.
I think the big concern for CB is can they hit another home run with their euros? Lazarev and Svechnikov are provably the best pairing the eagles have ever had. And interestingly enough, Evgeny's little brother Andrei is available in next years import draft (and he's supposedly significantly better). I wonder if CB considers tanking for Andrei Svechnikov?

I can't see Leveille being back in Cape Breton next year..... i think he plays pro or requests and receives a trade
I think grabbing the 2 second rounders this year is your best bet in return for Ranger not showing

My thoughts on the 20s are MacIntyre, Fiore and Carozza should get those spots. After the way Leveille played this year, he would be at the bottom of my wish list for 20s.His play took a major turn in the wrong direction and it seems to be with the mental side of his game, there are games(playoffs most recently) where he has no idea where he is going or what he is doing. Out of the 6 Dmen Dumont was using on a regular basis in the playoffs, Leveille would be ranked at No.5,maybe No.6.Bisson was just getting a chance to play top 4 and unfortunately he got hurt.IMO, based on his play, Leveille would be last on my list of 20s.

I think not getting a contract or drafted killed Levielle's confidence. When he's on his game he's good, but he needs to use his size more and actually play defense. Back in September I was in Halifax for the Islanders vs Hurricanes preseason game and I got tickets for the Eagles vs Moose the next night. Levielle scored in OT and looking back it was one of his better efforts all year which is a shame because that was... you know... September..

I'd like to see us try and get Crete Belize from blainville that kid is unreal Crete-Belzile was one of those NCAA kids he could have gone higher than #11 ... of course it was all forwards and goaltenders in the top 10 last year. He was a top 5 talent though regardless I think he had ties with Blainville prior to the draft as well

Blainville a team that never had a rebuil there always competitive we need there gm or coach Well, they do have the advantage of being very close to one of the largest urban centres in Canada, as well as NHL connections within the organization. It is a very attractive destination for a lot of the French speaking NCAA kids. These factors certainly help in accelerating a rebuild.

Blainville a team that never had a rebuil there always competitive we need there gm or coach they finished 14th this year they upset Val Dor in playoffs but they were not competitive as a whole this year and had to rely on the most boring style of play to keep games close they also have never been successful in playoffs when they are a top team
