Unless I missed it we don't have a thread for my favourite tournament of the year. Was just listening to interviews on TSN. This is a confident low key team. Almost everyone has at least one goal, our goalie looks up to the challenge. Dom (damn him for leaving us ) know how to coach. His poise and manner in interviews, and you know the players watch them, calming effect. Sorry Flip...GO CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This tournament has simply lost all of the magic it once had. The lack of discussion on here about it pretty much reflects that. They got far too greedy charging NHL prices in NHL rinks.
Bring it back to junior hockey markets & junior sized buildings and have the games played in an atmosphere these kids deserve. Watching the USA play at home im the quarter finals against Russia in front of a building that looks less than half full is just sad.
The best part of this tourney has been the team switzerland coach.

The us crowd for the quarters can be excused because of the storm there but it’s been lack luster even for Canadian fans, I remember last time it was in buffalo, it was sold out for all Canada games but not this year

This is pretty sad for a semi-final game involving the Americans.

After missing out on the gold via coin flip (SO) last year, Ducharme gets the gold this time. Both years the teams played a team game of speed and attack. That Swedish team looked really good early on, but Canada were relentless. I guess hockey isn't dead in Canada!? Awesome finish!

Swedish captain throws his silver into the crowd. A fan with a US jersey catches it. Takes his US jersey off to reveal a Swedish jersey and puts the medal on before giving it back. I don't think that sequence could have been any more bizarre if Vince McMahon were running this tournament.

Great to see Canada win and Maxime Comtois/Drake Batherson/Coach Ducharme in particular. As far as the Swedish captain goes, part of me is disappointed to see that but the majority of me loves the kids dedication and commitment to winning, not accepting Silver as an alternative. Congrats to Canada and to the Swedish captain, keep that spirit. It will serve you well.

Or the arrogant attitude that there cant be some respect for a 2nd place finish will completely derail his NHL career. Would have hated to watch the flip side of that if he had won. I find it hard to put down any praise when as a country we would not have let one of our own live that down for a very long time. Because we expect more. A country winning 1 gold in 35 years should also expect more from its kids on the international stage. The Swedes owe an apology due to their captains actions. The C on his cheat makes it even worse in my opinion. Clearly they picked the wrong leader for their group.

Bob MacKenzie had no real problem with it calling him a Warrior ..........however Ray Ferraro was all over the Kid . Just one of those bad decisions made in the heat of the moment ......I am fairly sure it won't derail his NHL Career ......when he is around grown men and learns how to be a Pro .

Well its going to go 1 of 2 ways. That attitude in North America is going to be blasted by teammates. If that's ANY indication of his attitude, he needs to do some serious growing up to survive in the NHL. Can he? Of course. Will he? Better people then him ended up back in Europe due to refusing to lose that childishness. I hope for the kid that he grows up a lot. But I do think that 100% of the Canadian commentators would not have said the same thing had Dillon Dube pulled that stunt with the C on his Canadian jersey. It would have been a national embarrassment to a certain degree. As it should. There is nothing wrong with finishing 2nd in a tournament like that.

The Swedish national junior team have turned themselves into the 90s Buffalo Bills or Atlanta Braves. 40-something round robin wins in a row, and one goal medal to show for it. They were an extremely talented team, and gave Canada all they could handle. But a clutch goal and an empty netter sealed it.
Congrats to Team Canada on the goal medal.
