There's a lot of hate surrounding Voynov right now, a lot of people aren't happy that the NHL is considering letting him return.

with Trotz gone and the caps cap tightness, I wonder if John Carlson actually walks?

with Trotz gone and the caps cap tightness, I wonder if John Carlson actually walks? Carlson will get paid coming off a big year, will likely get 8M on the open market, likely costs them 7.5+M to retain him...

with Trotz gone and the caps cap tightness, I wonder if John Carlson actually walks? still bet he stays. He is from NJ and married a girl from the district. So at his age he can get 8 years from the Caps possibly $60M with some of it front loaded. It's the only place he played so he predates Trotz by 5 years. The player who probably gets squeezed out in DC is Beagle but depends if salary cap goes up to $82 million. Wilson RFA bridge deal. Sign Kempny to term 3 yrs keep avg down and reoffer DSP. Trade Grubauer off the books.

that's totally a product of his 2014 contract shortsighted thinking he may be happy with a 2 year option with only a 300K escalator. (Option to extend by 2 years only if he won a cup would have been $1.8M for 2 more years). If he had stayed beyond July 1 that would have kicked in. I hear it was all about term. He wants top 4 money and 5 years. So behind Q, Julien, and Babcock and trend is lately most organizations wont pay that much. So they wouldn't renegotiate on those terms.

Senators basically gave Hoffman away but something had to be done... Mikkel Boedker, Julius Bergman and a 2020 6th for Mike Hoffman, Cody Donaghey and a 2020 5th.

Yeah if not for all the off ice crap, that would be a pure fleecing. Boedker is a guy who frustrates coaches, soft and one dimensional, making 4M for 2 more years. Ottawa is in a very though spot...Karlsson likely costs a fortune, they probably move him to...which wouldn't be a big deal but that 1st they owe Colorado is a problem...they either give up the 4th overall pick or risk giving away 1st overall next year for Hughes...there are no good options!

Hoffman and Evander Kane should get along well

Hoffman and Evander Kane should get along well they still have a good veteran presence on that team to keep people in line. Burns and Joltin Joe and its why they took a chance on Kane and made it work. Very good leadership. Good locker room and the mgmt trusts them to police the egos.

If his wife/fiancée is the problem, leadership may not be able to fix that...

Joltin Joe isn't even signed and his days are numbered if he does come back at some point they will regret the Kane signing..... giving him max term based on a 30 game sample is very risky Hoffman is a solid acquisition for essentially nothing...... but if his girl is a psycho it will not be an easy room to integrate into

This just got a bit crazier...
#FlaPanthers get Mike Hoffman, 2018 seventh-round pick from #SJSharks for 2019 second-round pick, 2018 fourth-round pick and 2018 fifth-round pick.
