Armada in 5, the team is much deeper then people want to give them credit for. There’s a reason they were the #1 team in the league this season. The clock is about to strike 12 on Islanders playoff run, the Cinderella can go on a run but eventually it ends. This is the end. I don't think anyone had been saying the Armada aren't deep enough. They loaded up for this over the past couple years. Charlottetown on the other hand is much deeper with much better players than you (and many others) give them credit for. This didn't go to seven games by mistake, and I firmly believe if game 7 was in Charlottetown, the islanders would be in the final now instead of BBA. Charelottetown was grossly underrated this year to the point where all of the nay sayers are now a joke. Anyone who bothered to do their homework at the start of the year is not surprised they ended up making the playoffs and could be and were successful. The returning players were many of the key players who brought the team to roughly (I don't remember exactly) a 4th overall finish at christmas time last year- which is why the islanders loaded up for a run last year at xmas in the first place. As I stated, that core group returned this year - and were once again successful. returning players who ended the season with us were Welsh (ok regular season.... backup in playoffs) Joseph (outstanding no question) Vesterinen (disappointing season scratch in playoff) Drew (4th line forward when dressed occasional d shift) Aquin (breakout year definitely core forward) Getson (see above) King (4th line player roughly half the games) that isn't the core of last years team at all

The players you listed were a big part of the team’s success in the first half of last year which is what I was referencing. Once the team loaded up at Xmas I agree some players had a lesser role in the 2nd half. Don’t forget that at Xmas when key players were away at world junior camps this core group still continued to win even against teams like the Titan..

I hope Bathurst then maybe the Maritimes will get a little respect, but I have a feeling Blainville in 7!

The core guys from last years team either moved on after the season, or were traded away at the deadline. Brisebois, Chlapik, Kielly all moved on to pro\CIS; Donaghey, Balmas, Coughler, Boudrias, Thompson were all traded away at Xmas. Those guys were the core that got the Isles to where they were, not Sam King, who had a grand total of 8 points last year

I’m not arguing who the core go-to guys were last year. I’m simply saying there were a group of good returning players coming back this season to play and to build around, which the organization did do and were successful doing so. And the team ended up better than last year’s group of names. And for people who understood what the players were capable of bringing to the table ( as Jim Hulton obviously knew), having a competitive team this year was not at all a surprise.

With Joel Bouchard leaving the Armada to coach Laval in the AHL, the Islanders have left a trail of departed coaches in their wake. Boucher and Midgley were both fired, and Bouchard is gone. Hulton gets an extension.
