From what I have heard, there has been a lot of illness within the Cape Breton team and therefore the lineup has had to be shaken up. It has also negatively affected the practices lately unfortunately in a stretch where the team is actually home enough to finally practice more than a few times. Whomever set up and approved the scheduling for this team, looking forward especially, should be examined for competence! I thought in watching they played really hard and had a great defensive effort against Quebec. The business side is a disaster with promotions, sponsorships, fan experience and has shown no growth, but hockey side has shown tremendous growth this season under the guidance Couturier and Goyens. It is still a rebuilding process as the Eagles just don't have the talent to win; tough stretch of playing top teams and for the Eagles to win against top teams they have to be perfect every moment. A top team is permitted a few mistakes because their talent can cover the mistakes. I think since November 1 the Eagles are just below a .500 win percentage as well, I think the future is bright and another couple drafts with Couturier, development under Goyens, the Eagles will be back near the top in no time!

Who is marketing trying to appeal to with a "Patrick Roy night" exactly? He's the opposing coach. There's no entertainment factor to be taken out of who is coaching against your team.
How is it not "Welcome back Langlois" marketing since the second his deal was announced? Could they do more to make life harder on themselves with this stuff?
Did they even do anything to mention Patrick Roy? What are they even mentioning at this point? It just shows how completely out of touch the business people are. Did Patrick Roy night generate 1 extra ticket sale?

They are in 16th place with a .388 winning %. Lets actual see some results before we start saying there's been tremendous growth on the hockey side. We traded 1 1st and 4 2nds for 2 veteran defencemen while in 17th place, too. We need to raise the bar higher in my opinion. Or at least see some tangible results on the ice before we shout too loud about how well anyone is doing. To this point its a disappointment but there's a lot of hockey left to play.

Completely valid. But since the deadline you haven't had the easiest of schedules, and have actually done quite well. Within a goal of Halifax and Quebec, and beat Baie-Comeau. Only egg was against Sherbrooke. You have some easier games in the next couple weeks to make hay before your annual 6-game trek across Quebec. I think Cape Breton is the 3rd best team in the division, and might even surprise in the 2nd half.

We finished with a .257 winning % last year and sit at .388 right now with 28 games to play. But the issue is that we should be the clear cut 3rd team...not be within reach of teams like Charlottetown, Bathurst, and SJ. Especially after adding during the trade period. Lets actually create some separation from those teams before we talk about how well things are because until we do...things aren't that well imo.

Could one of the Remparts many 19 year olds be coming to the Eagles as an Overager for the 23-24 Season as part of the Jeremey Langlois Deal ? It seems pretty clear that the picks will be returned to the Remparts and at least two players will be coming back . Perhaps one of our Quebec based posters can shed some light on this . There’s absolutely no rumour coming out of Quebec. Among the 19, there are Mikael Huchette, Davis Cooper, Daniel Agostino, Elliot Lavoie, Charle Truchon, Thomas Darcy and William Rousseau. Justin Robidas isn’t signed yet by the Hurricanes but they have until June. Bolduc, Gaucher, Malatesta and Nause are all signed and won’t be coming back in the Q. What about Komarov? He will be a 19yr old import. I can see that making the most sense.

I kind of chucked at the "Patrick Roy Night" thing too but there was definitely a lot of Habs and Avalanche jerseys, many with 33 on them in the rink so for sure they generated a few fans anyway. As for Langlois, I don't think he would have been great from a marketing standpoint. He played 3.5 years here, the first being a rookie, the second being full on COVID restrictions year when there was very few people in the building and the third also being very much affected by COVID protocols. So, in short, I don't know how many people would have a great emotional attachment to him. I attended games right through it all, but I am in the minority there. Post script, it was certainly nice to see our players and Langlois exchanging pleasantries after the game but it was sure a bit awkward after the scuffle that preceded it!

You're 100% right that there's not much connection there due to the time period he happened to play here so there was never going to be this huge return. Reality is we've only probably seen a handful of former players generate much in terms of fan interest for a return after the trade period.

Komarov is a very solid defender, he would be my choice of all the guys available from Quebec, even if he is only here for 4 months and moved at X-mas. The log jam at D would become a little deeper, but it's a good problem to have. I don't think the team will have room for 2 20's on D, more from a development stand point, as you have to find a way to get more young guys in. Schmitt / Shortall (20) or Biggar(20) Komarov/Lavoie Daigle / Waugh Desjardins, Arnold, Carbonneau,

I was wondering about the 2nd pick 2023 Roy got from the Huskies at the trade deadline. We were expecting a trade with that pick but it didn't happen. I was wondering if he got that pick to flip it back to Cape Breton at the draft. That pick would make more sense for the Eagles than the 2nd 2025.

Perhaps the idea is a larger deal to both help Quebec buy now (Langlois came pretty cheap) but also help CB fill a hole or 2 for next season with Quebec getting a big rebuild chip or 2. For example. Langlois for 2nd and 3rd now. Komarov and Rousseau come at the draft for a combination of picks. CB's 2023 1st along with SJ's 2024 1st wouldn't be a bad way for Quebec to begin a rebuild.

Remove Shortall and thats a very deep group 1 through 5 and still leaves you room for another impact overager up front or in net.
