Did the referees use the phone to review the play? During Game 3 in Saint John, there was a play on the boards where a Gatineau player went in awkwardly. No referee (Langille) made a signal of any kind, but then they picked up the phone and awarded the Olympiques a double minor for check from behind. Key point here - No referee (Langille) made a signal of any kind...

Interesting that they didn't use video replay. There was another incident in Saint John this year where a Sea Dog player was assessed a minor for tripping but the referees used video and reviewed it and determined the opposing player stepped on his stick. I guess I am just confused what penalties are able to be reviewed by video and what can't. One would think if a tripping minor was reviewed via video than a major penalty could be reviewed. What you need to understand here is the difference in the play. They knew what the replay would show. It wasnt something they wanted to consult. So they didn't consult it. The officials wanting to get home is not much of an excuse for losing control of the game... Just saying!

I'm torn on this "game management" thing. Who knows what would've happened later in the period had L'Heureux not been kicked out. He might have gotten into actual trouble. But at the same time, I can't imagine making phantom calls just for an excuse to kick someone out of the game to go over very well, regardless of the circumstances.
If the accumulation of game misconducts is a thing in the playoffs, L'Heureux's game misconduct should be rescinded if he did nothing wrong.

If the accumulation of game misconducts is a thing in the playoffs, L'Heureux's game misconduct should be rescinded if he did nothing wrong. your correct - one thing Moncton set out to do was get under L'Heureux skin and get him to do something stupid. He has turned the other cheek maybe except for the unsportsmanlike penalty he took from the bench in game 1 which did hurt the Mooseheads resulting in a penalty and loss of good scoring opportunity. Now the Moncton players tasked with goating #66 mostly ended up thrown out of the last game as the refs got tired of it - it continued after the L'Heureux night ended. But I know it was 6-1 but at what point are the refs made up calls doing Moncton's job for them? As soon as #66 was out of game they were still losing 1-6 and shifted their attention on other guys. When the game was a foregone conclusion the strategy was let's see if we can get someone disqualified for the next game. And I'm not upset at that as Moncton is doing what they need to do to win the series. And one of those things is anticipating the league/officials/and even fans-media overreacting with regard to one player. At some point it hurts the Moose. We need this series over quick. Sherbrooke will have time to all sleep, rest, video review, and be ready and Halifax doesn't need 6 or 7 games. It's one thing if they lay eggs like game 1 but quite another when players get removed to keep the peace.

It certainly looks like a hit to the head and definitely the skates have left the ice . This doesn’t show any head contact and you’re allowed to have your skates leave the ice if it’s after the contact. His right foot was clearly on the surface when contact was made
