Not sure if this deserves its own thread but didn't know where to put this.
Mathieu Cataford picked by Vegas 3rd Round 77th overall.

This might not age well but right now in the draft they are 3 and half rounds done and only 4 Q players picked. 2of which is what started this thread. That pretty bad.

Good for MacKinnon. I didn't think he'd go that high. Thought 5th rd or later.

Man with only a few picks left this has to be one of if not the worst showing for the Q. Only 11 guys with 10 or so picks left. I truly don’t know if I seen less taken.

I feel for Vidicek. I am surprised he didn't get picked. He seems like a solid all around player. Not sure why they don't think he is a worthy pick.

Tyler Peddle is the last pick of the draft to bring the total to 12. That’s a little sad.

Did the teams just forget that Peddle wasn't drafted? What a fall from where he was projected to go, and Columbus swoops in with a trade to take him LAST.

It will forever be know as the draft where Tyler Peddle went last. I mean who went first overall again? 🤔

Tyler Peddle is the last pick of the draft to bring the total to 12. That’s a little sad. I mean it's sad but the QMJHL is still underrated. As a WHL or OHL defenseman with a 72 points season, a player like Étienne Morin would have easily been a first round pick... I read an article a few days ago saying teams didn't scout the Q much this year.

I mean Dragicevic had 75 points this year and went after Morin so while they’re 2 different players, you can still put up a ridiculous season and not be drafted in the 1st.

I have no idea why the Q has such a knock against it. The Q wins the Mem cup consecutively and yet they don't have a leg to stand on in the draft. Where does this come from? How is it, that the Q lately is beating up on the OHL and WHL in the championships and all the players with eligibility this year from the Q are down graded? Some, rightfully so, but many, many others got screwed. When and how is this going to change? Is this on the new commissioner? Or is the Q actually that far behind in the CHL? Disappointing to say the least.

Some, rightfully so, but many, many others got screwed. When and how is this going to change? Is this on the new commissioner? Or is the Q actually that far behind in the CHL? Disappointing to say the least. The Memorial Cup is a terrible barometer to measure the strength of a league by. It’s a 3-6 game tournament and when you have elite teams, anybody can win. The Q is the weakest league, they have the least depth and talent of the 3 CHL leagues. I don’t think that’s even up for debate. There’s a reason the other leagues can support 20 and 22 teams, it’s because there’s more players to pick from. It also doesn’t help the Q that when they lose guys to the NCAA it hurts the league more then the other 2 because they have so many less players to pick from. The Q has too many teams and maybe the other leagues do too but the could never support anymore because they can barely supply players for the 18 they have now. If there’s so many guys though that got screwed from the Q name them because I don’t think guys get screwed, I think the way the draft is set up that it benefits teams to pick players heading the college route or staying in Europe because of the extra time to sign them. Instead of needing to make a decision on a 19 year old kid, you can wait until they 21/22. You’re giving yourself so much more time and options so unless a team feels strongly about a player, you take the kid who’s going to give you more time before making a decision. This is clearly a down year for the Q but it isn’t because guys got screwed, it’s just because they weren’t good enough. It was a down year for the league and while I think you could make a pretty solid case for Burbidge/Tourigny to get drafted, I don’t think anybody was undrafted or under drafted because they play in the Q.
