Does anyone have a list of available 20 year olds? Google wasn't being helpful tonight What do you mean? Free agents? On teams but might be traded? It’s really hard to accumulate a list like that.

A couple quick notes - While the website is broken you can still navigate to all team roster pages, it's just a bit more annoying. Use the URL - chl.ca/lhjmq-mooseheads/roster/But, you can replace the "mooseheads" part with any other team name and it will bring up the roster. chl.ca/lhjmq-armada/roster/ for example, should work too. I didn't list some of the guys who didn't make their teams final rosters, but are still property of that team. Quebec has a few extra guys like Davis Cooper and Daniel Agostino that might be of interest to teams with an open spot.

I can see teams expected to be contenders like Halifax and Drummondville trying to upgrade theirs at some points as well.

The 2019 draft was weird, there were some VERY good players, but... like, so good they're playing pro this year. But there's very few guys that are like, extremely good junior players who just went unsigned for one reason or another. I'll add two caveats to that - There's always a couple of guys who break out at 20. We might see somebody on this list jump from a .9 ppg player to a 1.5 ppg player and that wouldn't surprise me at all. But also - this is the first class of players who had their rookie seasons disrupted by COVID. A lot of these players didn't get to play a "normal" season until they were 18 years old. I think next year you might have a similar issue because the Quebec kids of the 2020 draft class missed an entire season of seasoning in U18... and then of course the 2021 draft class missed their 15 year old seasons. So... yea, this "dip" in the quality of 20's could last another 2 years after this one.

Max Barbashev was not listed on the Shawinigan Cataractes final roster. I think that it was expected. If he really had been available, I am not sure Moncton would have traded him and a lot more teams would have been fighting for him. I think that the move to Shawinigan was just guessing and betting on something not real…we’ll see. I think that he will have his chance in pro….Dumais would not be playing junior if he had been a Euro and I think that Barbashev falls in that category of players that should be playing in the AHL like Dumais should….

A decent amount of guys were taken higher then expected, or guys taken high that didn't pan out, etc. The OA's for next year ain't looking too hot either but anything could happen too. We could arguably see some guys at 19 take some big jumps as well.

So... yea, this "dip" in the quality of 20's could last another 2 years after this one. Even the top guys last year broke out at least in regards to their goal scoring. Doucet had a 40 point jump and went from 33 to 58 goals. Lawrence had a big season the year before with 101 but had a big jump from 31 to 51 goals. Maybe the group doesn’t have that level of improvement, 50 goal scorers but you figure there will be a few guys that go from 20-30 to 35-45 goals. Now it would be nice to find one of those guys ahead of time and at a discount but I can understand Cam wanting to get the right guys. Two other things jump to mind when thinking about how Covid has impacted these players… one is they may be a bit more prone to be late bloomers as they move further away from those “lost” seasons and two if the players in front of them/the stronger group are now gone it may also open the door to more breakthrough seasons. I also wonder if we have any unexpected guys returning to the Q.

At least with 20yr olds you can make a trade whenever you want. Maybe the full trade and compensation doesn't get finalized until Xmas, but I like the fact if Cam wants to acquire a guy in late Oct he can.

I don't think Cam will acquire a 20 year old from elsewhere in the Q. But I do think he will bring a 20 in from somewhere else. Maybe for 2nd half of year. Depending on what he needs to bolster.
It will not cost an asset to acquire if its someone passed over in another league or the notorious tier 2 player from somewhere in Ontario or another player that withdraws themselves from an NCAA program that qualifies.
