Shots on Goal Mathieu Cataford | 3 Reece Peitzsche | 3 Liam Kilfoil | 2 Braedan MacPhee | 2 Jake Todd | 2 Dylan MacKinnon | 1 Brady Schultz | 1 Yannik Ponzetto | 1 Everyone Else: 0 (Larmand, Fournier, etc) Yup... I want badly for everyone to succeed but we need more from our 20s. Some guys did their part but you're not gonna win unless you have guys pulling their weight. Cam has to upgrade both Fournier and Larmond. They're just not good enough. I like Fournier's scoring touch, but he's way too inconsistent. As for Larmond, I haven't seen enough from him and unfortunately there's no time to let him play it out. They need production from those 2 roster spots. They already have one import that's a complete non factor. They can't expect to go on a run with 2 20s and a euro wasting roster spots. That puts an incredible amount of pressure on the rest of your roster. I'm not sure what guarantees were made to Ponzetto, but if they can move on from him they should. I genuinely watch him play and wonder if he's ever played organized competitive hockey before. He's shown absolutely nothing. What their scouts saw in him is beyond me. Matieko would be a nice upgrade. And he'd be back next year as well. I think Halifax should go that route for a bit because their import drafting lately has been atrocious.

Has some size, but skating and puck sense is just not there... Get's hard with the European agents though... I agree he's not up to a QMJHL level, but you don't want to endure years of being blackballed...

There was a play in Thursdays game vs Drummondville. Moose player flipped a puck out of the D zone, up over the neutral zone. Ponzetto had a step on Volts player or very least advantage in a puck battle. Instead of skating and engaging, he stops skating, Drum player literally skates right by him, takes puck, skates around net and they exit the zone. I know he's young and new to North American game, but some plays you just know the player doesn't have it, and that was one.

Reynolds auditioning 1 more ES point and he's tied for 3rd in the league (behind Cataford and Dumais) Missed a player and the stats hadn't updated. Reynolds is tied for 4th behind Halifax's top line.

There's a lack of hockey sense and a lack of willingness to dig in and battle, to potentially get hit. Some guys get the latter with age, I find Biasca was an example of that, but the former, he hockey sense... that's usually something you have or you don't. Ponzetto with some confidence in his shot, some overall swagger to his game and a higher compete level would be a dangerous player still, he's got above average size, strength and skating for the Q, he has quick hands too when he wants to use them, but he plays with zero confidence in his ability to shoot the puck. I remember, I think it was the same game, he had a pass come to him in the slot, he was 6 feet from the goalie with nobody in front of him and just passed it. Like, shoot dude. Anyway, yea, he's definitely frustrating to watch most nights. If he was just bad it wouldn't be so frustrating, but you can see that there's a good hockey player in there somewhere.

It's disappointing in a year they needed production from an import forward, they took a flyer on him. In an all-out rebuilding year, I could see the rationale. Bring him over, live with the warts and hope he can develop. It's nothing but a wasted roster spot this season. He has some extremely raw physical tools that have potential. But the chances of that potential being realized seem slim.
