Tourigny also left Colorado because it didn’t work out with Roy. Tourigny wanted more responsibilities.

I echo the consensus. Nothing wrong with that interview and it actually gives me more encouragement that they'll do the right things. I feel better now than I did before I read it. Competitive doesn't need to mean good. Competitive just means they'll ice a QMJHL roster. They'll still have some younger players and may also bring in a younger player or two via trade. I think they'll get the balance right.

There's nothing worse for development than playing with a bunch of Junior A guys and players 1 or 2 depth spots lower than they should be playing and getting pounded by 5 goals every night. I think some people forget building winning habits is part of the development and rebuilding process.

I think some people forget building winning habits is part of the development and rebuilding process. I agree with this. It's why I don't like 'tear it down to the studs' rebuilds. 1. It's not a good environment for any young prospects you do have on your team. 2. There's no more guarantee that it will work over a more conservative rebuild. 3. You have a shit product for 1-2 years. This summer, make the necessary moves to clean up the roster. So figure out which 20s are likely to turn pro, which you think can play in the Q next year, and trade the extras to get down to around 4 for training camp. It doesn't even matter to me if they trade the best ones for a big return now and keep the lesser ones, or keep the better ones and maybe trade them later. Try to make any other trades that take care of any gluts on the roster - too many returning defencemen, extra goalie, whatever. Then start the season and reassess as you go. The type of rebuild also depends on the type of buying that was done the previous season. If the anticipated conclusion to the Moncton trade returns some/all of the 2026 picks or even a 2024 top 2-round pick, then Halifax really isn't in a horrible position. There isn't a desperate need to sell everything. If you don't buy big, you don't have to sell big.

honestly, if Halifax can trade their big chips and have a team similar to this years Titan squad then there's definitely nothing wrong with that type of rebuild.
While we arguably "could've" traded Orr + Roelens, we also got them for cheaper originally and if price wasn't there then we can keep them and remain competitive. They still moved their other top end pieces for a boatload.
Moving guys like Cataford/Vidicek/MacKinnon and getting multiple 1sts, prospects, etc. and then keeping guys like Rousseau, Schultz, Levesque, Phillips, etc.if the prices aren't right and can still remain competitive than that's a success in a different way instead of scorched earth.
also finding other guys for cheap that other teams have moved on from can help too.
