Another bad outing by Gausman...I'm not too worried as I know he will find his game....but that is two in a row.
Currently trailing the terrible Rockies, 8-2..
Ugh..

Nice outing today from Rodriguez! I feel he will be a great addition to the rotation...and I don't think he will be the 5th starter for long!

Swanson scares the shit out of me....
Let him work his way back in Buffalo ffs.....why let him stretch out in the majors when he is not close to being ready!

At this point I’m not even sure how big of a step backwards it is. There’s one season that’s an aberration, he basically just had a perfect season at 22. Nothing else he’s done suggests that’s ever going to hit that again. It’s time to temper expectations.

Yeah I don't really see the point in talking about what people projected for him at 18 years old or whatever now. Just not an interesting conversation. We have a better sample size to work with now. He's better than his numbers are currently based on other metrics but I don't think we'll see him hit 300 again. His ceiling is probably hitting around .260 with a .340 OBP and 25-30 HR and good defense at 1st. Still a good player but not a generational talent unless his swing decisions drastically change. Bo's struggles are far more concerning to me at the moment but no one talks about it because shitting on vladdy is the hot thing to do. Some positives on this season. IKF has been good, Varsho has been much closer to the guy they probably thought they were getting when trading Moreno for him. I'm intrigued to see how Barger looks at the big leagues because that guy has been smashing baseballs at AAA. It would be nice to see another hitting prospect come up and make an impact. The pitching has been good and that includes early struggles from Gausman.

For me, it seems as though this roster lacks "attitude".
Like a Bautista...Donaldson.....many other current MLB players have.... .it seems as these guys prefer to dance and do the "Royal Family Wave' whenever they get a hit then actually put fourth a solid effort and play with passion....play to win....

Like a Bautista...Donaldson.....many other current MLB players have.... .it seems as these guys prefer to dance and do the "Royal Family Wave' whenever they get a hit then actually put fourth a solid effort and play with passion....play to win.... For sure. They need to shuffle it up and call up/bring in more guys who look passionate and battle at the plate. IKF and Biggio standing there watching strike 3, without even flinching like they were going to protect the zone on a 2 strike count, enrages me. The short term action they could take is bring up Orelvis Martinez for a spark. How bad could he be, where he doesn't add more offense than we are getting from the utility guys? He's probably the best chance for a 3 run home run that the roster has right now. That is the difference between a win and a loss for this team. The pitching is solid, and would be even better with more games where they had some breathing room. Vladdy wants to have fun playing, and for him having fun is swinging at pitches trying to hit home runs, whether he should or not. Occasionally you see a much better approach from him and he looks more locked in, but it doesn't take much for him to throw it all out the window and lose focus again. Springer is Springer. Chips in, streaky, but he's getting older. Still ok but not a star anymore. Bo is frustrating. Hacks at every pitch that is close, doesn't seem to be focused the longer he slumps. I'm not sure he has any idea where the ball is going off his bat. He should be way better though, and I expect him to get back to being productive, but I feel he should be able to reach a higher ceiling if he could only be more selective. Turner was a good addition for his plate approach. He can teach them a few things. Varsho is red hot and looking good, but his battle ability at the plate is also lacking. Often times goes down too easy without a fight. Clemente/Schneider are good injections to the lineup. I'd like to see Clement at the top of the lineup for a while, see what he can do. Kirk seems to have plateaued. Good pitch framer, but hard to feel good about his bat coming around. He isn't getting it done anymore. Just isn't the line drive hitter he was when he came up. Jansen gives them nice pop and extra base power.
