Tonight you'll see a full lineup of rookies.
Louis Boileau-Domingue will be the starting goalie for the Cats. Wendel Vye will play the 2nd half of the game.

Good win by Cats
here's a few thoughts
Gormley - I thought he had an excellent game. Very hard shot, power play specialist in yrs to come. It'll be a treat to watch him develop as the year goes on.
Downe - Thought he's a decent D. I can see him 6th/7th D on depth chart.
Lane - Heard his going to 2 week power skating, he needs it big time. I think he should be cut but he probably won't cuz of his size. He doesn't seem to be much of a fighter.
O' Brien - Really like this kid, prob on the bubble for this year, but I think he'll be a Wildcat in near future.
Dimitruk - Didn't play much in 1st cuz of a 10 mins misconduct, but was decent after. He'll be one of Cats best D's by year's end.
Bissonnette- Roski- Tremblay Really liked this line, thought were Cats best. Prob won't be able to keep all 3, but I'm hoping they keep 2. I could see all 3 with team next year.
Bell - Has size but thought he's too slow for the Q. Maybe 8th D at best.
Domingue -I thought he played ok, still think he'll be backup
Vye - I thought he played great, he'll be Cats 3rd string goalie, he'll be backup when Riopel is gone to pro camp/injuries
Coach Flynn has tough decisions to do. I wish he'd trade a few of the Vets from last year to keep the young guys, time will tell what he'll do.

First time I've seen any of the new kids (haven't been to any of the scrimmages), my thoughts (for what they're worth):
Gormley - was not as disappointed as I expected after reading some of the comments on him.
Downe - I was really impressed with this kid, never having heard much about him before. I can see him cracking the team as a #7 D.
Carteciano - the first period and a half, I kept noticing #10 and having to go to the lineup sheet - have heard nothing about this guy before, but I was impressed that he was in the play every time he was on the ice.
Tremblay - impressed me, and not just because he got 2 goals.
#17 impressed me, too - can't remember his name now (Martin?) - he made stuff happen when he was on the ice.
#20 Bissonnette - didn't see much time in the first (illegal equip?) but he played well with Roski
Roski - also really impressed me - plays much larger than his 5'10" size.
Lane - plays smaller than Roski - I expect a guy that big to play physical, make room on the ice. I don't expect him to be a speedster, but geez....... I think Major Jr is just too fast for him.

Nearly a full house tonight...good to see. Players who stood out for me where Gormely and Downe on D, Roski, Bissonette, the first star Tremblay and at times Sicilia and Carteciano. Downe looked very comfortable paired with Gormley...good size, skill and smarts. Scored a nice goal down low. Quite a few forwards lack Q speed... easy cuts.
Lane's fight with Worden was a draw..maybe..Worden got in a few good shots. I can't see Lane sticking, his balance is so poor I can't see him winning too many fights. Got an assist throwing the puck out front...not really in the play otherwise.
Roski's tilt was the better fight. Roski took a few stitches by the eye, Titan player a few cuts in the back of the head.
The game was sloppy as you might expect with rookies that never played together. Tough night to be a coach ( see Flynn's expressions). Can't wait to see the mix with the vets.

16 - Daoust must of led the team in hits. 21 - Roski got himself noticed with his gritty play. 2 & 4 were solid. On the ice in the important situations. 58 - Cadet is a year away from making the team. Once he fills out he will be a good depth D. 49 - Mitchell was OK 19 - Dimitruck is smooth with the puck. 8 & 10 were OK but we need more size. Too many of those guys already. They will have to knock Roski out of a spot to make it. 22 - 2 goals but otherwise didn't notice him. 20 - Bisonnette. Good skill but soft. Will have to play on the top 2 lines. 14 - Lane.... you can't teach size! Is he 18 or 19?

Nope, try again. Jordan Lane is 19. The Cats had him listed as a 18 year old for the scrimmages and stuff but he's actually 19.

14 - Lane.... you can't teach size! Is he 18 or 19? You can't teach size...true, but hockey is still played on skates and until that changes, I would take a pass on this one.

Lane is one of the guys that they signed to cards already along with Roski Bissonnette Jodoin Petersson(a bit surprising). People are pretty hard on him. He's definitely rough around the edges, but his skating is good for a guy 6'7", he seems to know where he is going out there. Yeah he fought a 17 year old, but Worden is 6'3" 230lbs and handled himself in Jr.A. Lane is at least as good a scrapper as Herr last year.
Gormley is a lock as well.
The way Downe is playing, Boyle could be expendable if LA assigns Voynov here as anticipated. He's been very steady and would not look out of place at #6-7.
Stevens and Brenton should also be on the bubble, a lot of good young players in camp...this crop could be as good as the Bernier-Crawford-Gagne-Saunders one of 2001 when all is said and done.
LBD has shown good skill but his technique needs a fair bit of work, I think unless one of the others(Vye and Kidd) really shows something in the next few days, his spot is there, he has nothing to prove in MAAA.
Cadet has solid tools, needs a year MAAA.
Daoust is big and skates pretty well, has not shown much offensively, headed to MAAA.
O'brien is creative but not big and not super fast, not sure where he'll end up, even if he sticks he won't play a ton this year.
Tremblay can really finish but the rest of his game is not that good...reminds of Lepage.
Lariviere has good size but doesn't accomplish much.
Noseworthy not playing, I assume his spot is safe, he was very good in scrimmages.
Fortune was pretty good, surprised he was not dressed, his age plays against him a bit at 18.

He'll be a solid 3rd or 4th liner this year.

Lane's skating is good for a 6'7" Compared to who else that is 6'7" I don't care if he's 9', he is just way too slow for the Q IMO. Novelty-wise I'd like him to stay, it would be neat to have a freak on the team but for the good of the Cats and championships in the future, I'd much rather have a younger pup in his position to help excellerate his development. I couldn't agree more with your statement about Domingue. I think a few months with Frantz to work on his technique and boom, you have yourself a great goalie for our future, he'll be very good. Another one is Stephens and Brenton....couldn't agree more other than Brenton cannot be here this year. Stephens....I really thought he'd come to camp better but I don't see all that much of an improvement

He won't be in the lineup for his skill anyways, I'm sure his game will improve with his conditionning.
