I didn't mean to be rude to you...as far as I know, there are 29 teams that had open rookie camps, and 1 that didn't...as a non-Habs fan, how could you know that? Pens camp is sweet. They webstream their scrimmages. ;D

They don't mention anything about Mayer being sent back to the Q and there was also a mention of him being the #2 for their ECHL team in Cincinnati as there is an opening. Anyone know for sure?

Mayer will be one of 6 goaltenders at the main Habs camp..which opens tomorrow. Along with Mayer are: C. Price J. Halak M. Denis C. Desjardins L. Lacasse

Mayer can't play minor pro this year until the end of his Q season. Mayer is also just an invite to the Habs camp isn't he ? I don't think he has ever been drafted ... came to the Q as an undrafted 18 YO ... and so is inelligible for minor pro until sometime after mid-March 2009. His birthday is October and so he was not draft eligible before he came to the Q. The Habs will likely sign a FA goaltender to fill that whole in Cincinnati.

The way Mayer has looked so far this year, I wouldn't mind the Habs signing him for next year, he's gone from a guy that flops all over the place to being poised and always in good position, he's always had good size and very good athleticism. In terms of ECHL, the habs don't necessarily need to sign a goalie for there, they can let Cincinnati sign a player themselves, just a 1 way ECHL contract, that way he is not on an NHL deal(which they only have like 50). Lacasse has no future in pro hockey, I think this is the last year of his contract.
