I seem to recall our Mem cup team having some grueling 3 in 3s and 4 in 5s but never receiving such pasting. We got plastered by Québec when they were playing their last game of a 3 in 3. That would be even worst IMO. Oh yeah, I agree 100%, we had a brutal team going in, just league and playoff champions with the best D and the second best O.....

3rd period 5. MON - Scott Brannon (15) (no assist) 01:00 6. MON - Randy Cameron (7) (Matt Eagles, Pierre-Marc Lessard) 10:33 7. RIM - François Houde (1) (Jordan Caron, Tomas Petracek) 18:19 Penalties: RIM - Sébastien Piché (03:41), RIM - Philippe Cornet (20:00), MON - Devon MacAusland (20:00)(maj.), MON - Simon Jodoin (20:00) Wonder what this is for? Probably for the hit behind the Rim net that got them so riled up at the end.

I think they called it kneeing when he hit the defenseman against the end boards. I thought it was a clean hipcheck but they obviously didn't agree.

devon bad slashing penalty that is why rimouski coach was going wild in behind the rimouski net I thought he got the knee out a bit ... I don't think the ref called a penalty (surprise, surprise, he left his whistle home today), but may have consulted with the linesmen after the game as it would have been the next whistle. Re: strength of schedule, obviously we were the better rested team today, but that all evens out over the course of a season. At this point I don't think you can say we have had it much easier than anyone else, the seaon is nearly half over, and we have played more road games than home games. Rimouski laid an egg today, they had very little jump - fatigue is an obvious excuse, but we have played a couple of three in threes this year too, and did not get blown out in the tail end ... Drummondville was playing their 3rd in 3 today too, and they fared okay ... Riki needs to get a lot better (getting healthy would help) to avoid being embarrassed at the Mem Cup. Gougeon was mediocre today, albeit with poor defensive play in front of him - I think they should identify whoever is the top goalie available at Xmas and go out and overpay for him (Nadeau maybe?), because IMO their best bet at the Mem Cup lies in them having a hot goalie who can steal a couple - I don't think Gougeon is that guy.

Hopefully Dimitruk won't be out for too long. Has anyone heard how serious his injury was? Did he sit out the rest of the game simply as a precaution?
I didn't catch the play at the time at the Coliseum, but listening to Gerry Green on the way home it sounded like Dimitruk's injury was an accident with no one really at fault other than Dimitruk may have put himself in a vulnerable position.

He looked quite groggy when he made it back to the bench. Hopefully he recoups quickly.

I don't think it was intentional from the Riki player, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a textbook checking from behind ... not sure what the ref was looking at - Flynn was furious ...

I didn't think it was checking from behind, Dimitruk turned as he was going to get hit. Sort of like the Kostopoulos hit on Van Ryne. I know they often call a penality, but you can't blame the Rimouski player.

If you didn't want to be proven wrong you should've never made the statement to begin with.

Its also a little different situation.

What I really like from this year's Cats team taht you rarely see, even from top teams is they play every game like they have something to prove. Today it would ahve been easy to think Rimouski would roll over, maybe come out flat and let Rki score a few and habng around...but they came out firing and hitting, had their foot on a tired opponent before they knew what hit them.

But this has nothing to do with Rimouski winning the President's Cup or going to the finals (which I think could be tough for them... tougher than it was for Moncton in '06 for sure). You made a false statement and you were corrected. You changing the subject will not take away from that fact.
